    • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
      Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts).     • Locks down fifth save
      Scott earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Tigers, allowing two hits while striking out one in a scoreless inning.

      Advice: The Tigers made things interesting with a pair of two-out singles off Scott in the ninth inning before the left-hander struck out Riley Greene, who represented the winning run, closing out Miami's shutout victory. Scott hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 10.1 innings, striking out 12 in that span. He's 5-for-6 in save opportunities with a 2.00 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 19:17 K:BB across 18 innings this season.     • Tanner Scott escapes Wednesday with fifth save
      Tanner Scott navigated a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Tigers to record his fifth save of the season.

      Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and immediately made things interesting, per usual, giving up back-to-back two-out singles to Javier Báez and Carson Kelly, respectively, before striking out pinch-hitter Riley Greene to end the contest. The 29-year-old lefty has walked a proverbial tightrope this season, managing to convert five of six save opportunities this season despite a troublesome 19/17 K/BB ratio across 18 innings of work.     • Nabs win Tuesday
      Scott (2-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's extra-inning victory over the Tigers, giving up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

      Advice: Rather than being held back for a possible save situation in extra innings on the road, Scott got the call in the ninth with the score tied 0-0 and was able to escape the jam he created. The southpaw hasn't allowed an earned run in 10 straight appearances, but Scott's been far from sharp during that time, posting an 11:7 K:BB in 9.1 innings. That's still an improvement on his early-season performance, and his 2.12 ERA on the year isn't supported by his 1.53 WHIP or 18:17 K:BB in 17 frames. Scott is still the Marlins' closer and has converted four of five save chances, but A.J. Puk got the save in the 10th inning Tuesday and could be a threat to take the job now that he's moved back into the bullpen. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:24 am
       
    • Eight Ks in no-decision
      Pivetta came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander generated an impressive 32 called or swinging strikes among his 81 pitches, but both runs off Pivetta came on solo shots by Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena, with the latter chasing him from the game one out short of his second quality start of the season. Pivetta has served up five homers in two starts since coming off the IL, a worrisome trend, but he'll carry a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in St. Louis.     • Nick Pivetta bounces back with solid effort vs TB
      Nick Pivetta allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.

      Advice: Pivetta struck out eight on the day while walking none, but he was doomed by two solo home runs. The right-hander got back on track after his rough return from the IL, posting a 29 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. His sweeper was particularly dominant, getting five whiffs on eight swings and posting a 47 percent CSW. Pivetta also threw his curveball 1.3 mph harder than usual and found some success with it, so that’s something to watch for future starts.     • On track to start Wednesday
      The Mariners list Woo (forearm) as their probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Royals in Seattle.

      Advice: Woo missed the first six weeks of the regular season with right elbow inflammation before returning from the 15-day injured list Friday after a trio of successful rehab starts. The right-hander was cruising through his first start of the season with the Mariners in Friday's 8-1 win over the Athletics, but he was lifted after 4.1 scoreless innings and 62 pitches upon experiencing forearm tightness. Though the fact that Woo is dealing with an injury that's seemingly related to the one that kept him on the shelf earlier this season isn't ideal, manager Scott Servais downplayed concern about the forearm issue after the game. The Mariners are still seemingly anticipating that Woo will be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation Wednesday, though fantasy managers will still want to keep tabs on his status leading up to the day of the game just to ensure the team hasn't scratched him from the start.     • Nabs win in extras
      Kimbrel (4-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings victory over the Diamondbacks, striking out one in a scoreless 11th inning.

      Advice: He hit Christian Walker with his first pitch of the frame, but Kimbrel quickly escaped the jam by fanning Jake McCarthy and then inducing a double-play grounder from Eugenio Suarez. The veteran reliever then got rewarded when Jordan Westburg walked it off in the bottom of the inning. Yennier Cano worked the ninth inning at home in a tie game -- usage normally reserved for a team's closer -- while Danny Coulombe handled the 10th, so Kimbrel may not be back in the top spot in the O's bullpen just yet, but efforts like this should help him get there.       Skubal (5-0) earned the win over Houston on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

      Advice: Skubal continued his run of excellence, recording his fifth straight quality start and picking up his fifth win without a loss on the season. The left-hander has built upon last year's breakout campaign to emerge as one of MLB's top hurlers and Detroit's undeniable staff ace.
