    • On track to return Friday
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Wednesday that Marsh (elbow) remains on track to return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday versus the Angels, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Marsh was terrific in his lone rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, striking out six over four shutout innings. The right-hander threw only 53 pitches in the outing, so he could be limited a bit from a workload perspective against the Angels. Marsh has missed the last couple weeks with a bruised right elbow. • Lifts another homer
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Naylor has gone 6-for-24 with three homers and seven RBI over his last seven contests. He was swinging a hot bat earlier in the season, but he's traded a bit of contact for more power in recent weeks. Naylor is slashing .276/.364/.553 with nine homers, 28 RBI, 18 runs scored, seven doubles and two steals over 34 games. With top prospect Kyle Manzardo slumping to begin his major-league career, Naylor should continue to play on a near-everyday basis between first base and designated hitter. • Mark Canha still out with illness Wednesday
Mark Canha is out of Wednesday’s lineup with an upper respiratory infection.

Advice: This appears to be why the 35-year-old was out of the lineup Tuesday as well. “He’s not feeling well,” manager AJ Hinch said. “It hasn’t been a great road trip health-wise (for the team), so we’re kind of quarantining him at this point to get him away from the rest of us until further notice.” If this is the case, Canha could be out a couple more games. The Tigers finish up their road trip at Cleveland and head back home for a weekend series against with the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 9:00 am

    • Battles control in no-decision
Lopez came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The four free passes were a season high for Lopez, who tossed 54 of 91 pitches for strikes before exiting. The right-hander has failed to last six innings in either of his last two outings after beginning the season with four straight quality starts, but he still sports a 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB through 35.1 innings. He'll look to tighten things up in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:28 am

    • Sent to IL with forearm fracture
The Cardinals placed Contreras on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Contreras fractured his left forearm when he was struck by J.D. Martinez's bat on a catcher's interference call during Tuesday's 7-5 loss. He will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. Ivan Herrera will be the Cardinals' primary catcher while Contreras is out, while Pedro Pages has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take Contreras' roster spot and serve as the team's No. 2 backstop. • Cardinals place Willson Contreras on 10-day IL
Cardinals placed Willson Contreras on the 10-day injured list with a left arm fracture.

Advice: Contreras will need more than the minimum 10 days as the 31-year-old backstop suffered a broken left forearm during Tuesday’s game against the Mets. Contreras was struck by a swing from J.D Martinez that collided with the middle of the forearm and carried through to his wrist. He’ll have to undergo surgery and is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks. In the meantime, Iván Herrera and Pedro Pagés will handle catching duties while Contreras is sidelined. • Getting breather Wednesday
Perez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Brewers.

Advice: Perez will receive a rare breather during the afternoon game. Freddy Fermin will fill in at catcher while Perez gets some rest. Rotowire.com Today, 7:49 am

    • Held out again Wednesday
Canha (illness) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Cleveland, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Canha was held out of Tuesday's 11-7 win due to an upper-respiratory illness and will sit out again Wednesday. The Tigers are off Thursday, so Canha will hope to be ready to roll for Friday's series opener versus the Astros. Colt Keith will get the start at designated hitter Wednesday in Canha's stead. • Stymies Rockies at Coors
Harrison (3-1) earned the win over the Rockies on Tuesday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing four hits and two walks. He struck out two.

Advice: Harrison twirled another gem Tuesday night, this time in hitter-friendly Coors Field. He tossed a career-best seven scoreless frames and has now allowed just one run over his last 18 innings pitched. Harrison battled control issues in Triple-A, but seems to have shrugged off any concerns thus far. Through eight starts, Harrison has gone at least six innings and issued two or fewer walks five times. He's now down to a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB in 45 innings and projects for a matchup at home against the Reds over the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:09 am
