    Lodolo (6-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings in a 3-2 victory over the Cubs. He struck out seven.

    Advice: The left-hander delivered his second straight quality start and fourth of the season on 99 pitches (61 strikes), and the only real mistake Lodolo made resulted in a Dansby Swanson solo shot in the sixth inning. The seven Ks were the most Lodolo has managed in three starts since returning from a groin strain, but he's won all three of those outings with a 2.08 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.   • Stuck with loss in quality start
    Steele (0-3) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings as the Cubs were downed 3-2 by the Reds. He struck out seven.

    Advice: The southpaw pitched well in his second quality start of the season, generating 30 called or swinging strikes among his 90 pitches, but a lack of run support kept him out of the win column once again. Steele appears to be rounding into form after missing all of April with a hamstring strain, and over his last three starts he sports a 1.89 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 19 innings.     Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander kept a dangerous offense off the board, but he needed 84 pitches (50 strikes) to record only 14 outs, and the Yankees' bullpen eventually faltered in the 11th inning. Poteet has a 1.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings over his three big-league starts this season, but with Gerrit Cole (elbow) set to make his second rehab start Sunday, his time in the New York rotation is running short.     Advice: The right-hander got taken deep by Anthony Santander in the second inning and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, just the second time this season Civale has served up multiple homers. The eight strikeouts did tie his season high, helping to salvage some fantasy value, but he's gone 10 straight starts without recording a win, going 0-4 over that stretch with a 6.66 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 50 innings. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 appearances (eight starts) dating back to April 15, posting a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 52.2 innings over that stretch.     Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

    Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances).   • Hogan Harris continues strong stretch on Friday
    Hogan Harris tossed six scoreless innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Harris has been quietly effective for the Athletics over the last few weeks, allowing just one earned run over 11 2/3 innings in a pair of starts since May 30. He struck out three and allowed just five baserunners (three hits and a pair of walks) over six shutout frames in this one, but was forced to settle for a no-decision after Oakland’s bullpen gave up the lead. The unheralded 27-year-old lefty will bring a sparkling 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18/8 K/BB ratio across 20 1/3 innings (four appearances, two starts) into a road tilt on Wednesday afternoon against the Padres.   • Chris Bassitt masterful Friday in Bay Area return
    Chris Bassitt struck out seven and allowed one run over eight innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Atletics.

    Advice: Bassit was forced to settle for a no-decision against his former organization in an impressive outing at pitcher-friendly Oakland Coliseum. He gave up only four hits and a pair of walks with a run-scoring ground out from JJ Bleday in the sixth-inning representing the lone tally against him in this one. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a 29 percent CSW. It was a performance that should’ve resulted in a victory, but Toronto’s lineup was only able to muster one run on five hits in a low-scoring tractor pull.
