• Triples, drives in four
Marte went 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBI, a run scored and a walk in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Marte ripped a bases-clearing triple in the first inning and followed it up with an RBI single in the fourth. After a 3-for-19 slump over nine games, he closed out May with three straight multi-hit performances. Marte boosted his slash line to .271/.321/.407 with nine steals, 23 RBI and 28 runs scored through 216 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:58 am
  • Tallies three hits
Turang went 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win against the White Sox.

Advice: Turang collected his fourth three-hit game of the season, batting in his customary leadoff spot against right-handed starters with Erick Fedde on the mound. The Brewers second baseman produced another solid month in May, hitting .284 (25-for-88) with one homer, five steals, nine RBI and nine runs scored. Overall, Turang is slashing .298/.361/.414 in 205 plate appearances with three homers, 19 stolen bases, 21 RBI and 24 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 pm

  • Logs steal in win
Freeman went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Freeman had been leading off over the last couple of weeks, but that should be done with Steven Kwan (hamstring) returning from the injured list Friday. Freeman was second in the order Friday against southpaw Patrick Corbin, but he'll likely bat lower against right-handers moving forward. Freeman's steal was his second in five games and his eighth of the campaign. He's still at a mediocre .223/.317/.354 slash line with four home runs, 22 RBI, 32 runs scored and 11 doubles over 203 plate appearances overall, but he's hit .295 (18-for-61) over his last 16 contests. • Zac Gallen diagnosed with Grade 1 hamstring strain
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday night that Zac Gallen was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Advice: That’s obviously good news, as Grade 1 is the least severe of the strains. The 28-year-old hurler dealt with a similar injury back in 2021 and wound up missing the minimum 15 days of action. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that he’ll face a similar timeline this time as well and that he’ll be able to return to the starting rotation in mid-June when he’s eligible. • Sitting Friday
Stanton is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Stanton has struggled of late, going 1-for-20 with eight strikeouts over his last five games, and his slash line is down to .225/.275/.471 for the season. Trent Grisham will start in center field Friday while Aaron Judge serves as the designated hitter against Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:05 pm

  • Lands on IL with hamstring strain
The Diamondbacks placed Gallen on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Gallen was pulled from Thursday's start against the Mets after throwing just six pitches without recording an out. He has been dealing with a right hamstring issue since April 26, and the 28-year-old right-hander will now be on the shelf for an extended period of time after aggravating the injury. It's unclear how long Gallen will be sidelined, but if he misses only the minimum, that would put him in line to return June 15 against the White Sox. In a corresponding move, the Diamondbacks recalled right-hander Slade Cecconi from Triple-A Reno. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

  • Diamondbacks place Zac Gallen on 15-day IL
Diamondbacks placed RHP Zac Gallen on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Not long after manager Torey Lovullo said he remained hopeful that Gallen would avoid a trip to the injured list, the club officially placed the right-hander on the 15-day IL. It sounds like the Diamondbacks are hopeful that it will be a minimum stay there, but we’ll see how he progresses over the next two weeks. Slade Cecconi was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:04 pm

  • Diamondbacks hopeful Gallen (hamstring) avoids IL
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that he’s hopeful Zac Gallen (hamstring) will avoid a trip to the injured list.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler left Thursday’s start after just one batter due to a right hamstring strain. He’s still being evaluated and the Diamondbacks are holding out hope that he’ll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list while accepting the fact that it’s still a very real possibility. Be sure to check back prior to Saturday’s game to see if they do decide to make a roster move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:42 pm

  • Alexis Díaz nearly blows save versus Cubs
Alexis Díaz escaped with his 11th save after giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Díaz got lucky when a pitch that hit both Nick Madigal’s hand and the knob of his bat was ruled a foul ball and was then fortunate again when Madrigal, as the tying run, was thrown out at home plate trying to score on Seiya Suzuki’s double. Díaz has a 5.91 ERA this season. He’s walked 15 and hit three batters in 21 1/3 innings. He’s simply not worthy of trust right now, but since he’s blown only two saves and the Reds don’t have anyone else they’re really wanting to turn to, he’ll probably remain in the closer’s role for now. Lucas Sims is likely still second in line, even if Fernando Cruz is the more interesting reliever these days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:40 pm
