• Ben Lively strikes out five in win over Rangers
Ben Lively allowed five hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s win over the Rangers.

Advice: Lively’s three earned runs all came on solo blasts from Adolis Garcia, Corey Seager, and Nathaniel Lowe. While it wasn’t an ideal way to get through an otherwise strong outing, the veteran righty did about as well as one could hope for against a strong Rangers lineup. He ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth inning, loading the bases after a single and two walked batters, but was able to strike out Marcus Semien to end the inning. Lively earned his second win of the season in this outing and will look to pick up his third on Monday against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 pm

  • Civale doesn’t miss bats in no-decision vs BOS
Aaron Civale allowed three runs on five hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Civale also struck out six and walked nobody on the night. However, he did allow seven hard-hit baseballs, including a home run to Ceddanne Rafaela, and posted a minuscule five percent walk rate. Yes, Civale got just two whiffs on 37 swings all evening. It’s hard to get overly excited about the strikeouts when he’s unable to get swings and misses. Overall, the season has been a disappointment for Civale. The right-hander has a 5.83 ERA and is not longer much more than a streamer at this point. It’s hard to trust him against the Blue Jays this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:29 pm
  • Nick Pivetta bounces back with solid effort vs TB
Nick Pivetta allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.

Advice: Pivetta struck out eight on the day while walking none, but he was doomed by two solo home runs. The right-hander got back on track after his rough return from the IL, posting a 29 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. His sweeper was particularly dominant, getting five whiffs on eight swings and posting a 47 percent CSW. Pivetta also threw his curveball 1.3 mph harder than usual and found some success with it, so that’s something to watch for future starts. He’ll take a 3.48 ERA into an appealing start against a reeling Cardinals offense this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:27 pm

  • Erick Fedde twirls seven-inning gem vs. Nats
Erick Fedde recorded six strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: Fedde took the ball for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill against the Nationals and wound up scattering three hits over seven stellar frames. He wasn’t overpowering, generating just six swinging strikes, but limited Washington’s lineup to just eight batted ball with an exit velocity over 95 mph. He’s fired 13 consecutive scoreless frames over his last two starts. He’ll bring a strong 2.60 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 50/14 K/BB ratio across 52 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:22 pm

  • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to White Sox
Mitchell Parker was charged with three runs over five innings on Tuesday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Parker was fortunate that the damage was only three runs as he left with the bases loaded in the sixth inning and was bailed out by teammate Jordan Weems. He struck out three and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll bring a 3.09 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 32 innings (six starts) into a home outing on Monday against the Twins. • Joe Ross strikes out six in win over Pirates
Joe Ross allowed two earned runs and two hits over five innings while picking up the win on Tuesday against the Pirates.

Advice: Ross was solid in this one, allowing just two hits while walking just one batter. His six strikeouts marked the third time on the year in which he struck out five or more batters, as the veteran righty was in control for much of the afternoon. He did give up a two-run homer to Nick Gonzales in the fourth inning, but bounced back to retire the next four batters he faced before being pulled. Ross picked up his second win of the season in this one, and will look to notch his third in his next start which is scheduled for Monday against the Marlins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:15 pm

  • Priester allows four earned runs in loss to MIL
Quinn Priester allowed nine hits and four earned runs over six innings in the Pirates’ loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Priester got through the first inning unscathed but was lit up for multiple hits in the second inning, with the biggest hit coming on a two-run homer by Sal Frelick. RBI singles by Brice Turang and Christian Yelich would give the Brewers an early 4-0 lead before the inning finally came to an end, but Priester would go on to pitch four more scoreless frames before being pulled. Priester has been solid this year, posting a 4.33 ERA over five starts while posting a 17:10 K:BB ratio. Despite this, his record now sits at 0-4. He’ll look to pick up his first win of the season on Sunday against the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm
  • Chris Sale stays hot in domination of Cubs
Chris Sale threw seven shutout innings in a 7-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just two hits and striking out nine.

Advice: He’s now allowed just two runs over his last 25 innings. Sale’s slider carved up the Cubs all game, with a 44 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW on the pitch. The average exit velocity on all contact against Sale was just 81 mph as the left-hander mowed down the Cubs’ order. The effort gave him a 2.54 ERA on the year to go along with 61 strikeouts to just eight walks in 49 2/3 innings. He has been every bit the ace he was back before his injuries and there’s no reason to doubt he can keep it up as long as he can stay healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:53 pm

  • Taillon doomed by poor 4th inning in loss to ATL
Jameson Taillon allowed seven runs (two earned) on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Taillon allowed just one run on four hits in the first three innings, with three of those hits coming in the first. He started off the fourth inning by allowing a home run to Michal Harris II but then Taillon committed a fielding error and would later throw a wild pitch, both of which extended the inning and caused the right-hander to throw more pitches, allow more hits, and more unearned runs. It was a sloppy inning that overshadowed Taillon’s impressive 28 percent whiff rate with 12 whiffs coming on 43 swings. His sweeper and cutter were particularly strong on the day, but he struggled with his command and the Braves made him pay. Taillon will carry a 1.61 ERA into a start against the Pirates this weekend and is a strong streaming candidate for that game. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:43 pm
