• Stumbles again Sunday
Detmers (3-2) yielded five runs on nine hits over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Twins.

Advice: Detmers fired three perfect innings before the Twins broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning. He ran into more trouble in the fifth, coughing up four runs on five hits. After an incredible start to his season in which he produced a 30:7 K:BB and 1.19 ERA through four starts, Detmers has taken two straight losses, yielding nine runs in 12 innings. His ERA climbed to 3.12, but he still owns a strong 37:10 K:BB through 34.2 frames. Detmers is projected for a road start in Cleveland next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:00 pm

  • Earns ugly win
Lopez (2-2) allowed four runs on four hits and a walk in five innings Sunday, striking out eight and picking up a win over the Angels.

Advice: Lopez tossed four shutout frames before the Angels caught fire in the fifth inning, plating four runs. Three of those runs came via back-to-back homers by Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel. Lopez forced 13 whiffs after totaling just five in his last outing against the White Sox. Still, he saw his ERA climb to 4.83 through six starts. Lopez is currently in line for a home matchup with Boston next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 6:47 pm

  • Tanner Houck fans nine in tough-luck no-decision
Tanner Houck was brilliant in a tough-luck no-decision on Sunday night, piling up nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: Houck scattered just four hits on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single by Matt Mervis in the seventh inning — the final batter that Houck faced. The 27-year-old right-hander generated 16 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night — getting five or more whiffs on each of his slider, sinker and splitter — while posting a CSW of 35 percent. He’ll bring a pristine 1.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 41/5 K/BB ratio (39 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Twins in Minnesota. Rotoworld Today, 6:47 pm

  • Hayden Wesneski pitches well in no-decision Sunday
Hayden Wesneski pitched well in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Sunday night, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits over his four innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander walked one and struck out three batters on the night. The Red Sox scratched out single runs against him in the first and third innings — both on RBI singles by Connor Wong. The 26-year-old hurler got eight swings and misses on 63 pitches on the night — five of those on his fastball that averaged 94.8 mph — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. With Jordan Wicks shelved, he’ll have an opportunity to stick in the Cubs’ rotation for at least a few weeks now. His next turn will come on Friday against the Brewers. Rotoworld Today, 6:47 pm

  • Lit up during no-decision
Corbin did not factor into the decision during Sunday's win over the Marlins, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Corbin labored through 93 pitches in just four innings, digging his own grave by starting just eight of 22 batters with a first-pitch strike. The veteran southpaw shut down a potent Dodgers lineup during his last start but couldn't carry the momentum into this matchup with the Marlins, allowing all seven runs during the first two innings. Following the rough start, Corbin did face the minimum through his final two innings, providing a bit of a silver lining over the bad start and allowing the Nationals an opportunity to come all the way back and secure the victory. Corbin's next start is tentatively scheduled to take place during a home set next weekend against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Today, 6:46 pm

  • Allows four earned in no-decision
Suarez did not factor into the decision during Sunday's 7-6 loss to the A's, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Suarez allowed his first earned runs of the season, laboring through 83 pitches prior to being pulled with the lead after finishing four innings. Suarez had been unscored upon in his first two starts spanning 11.1 innings since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on April 17. Suarez's future in the Baltimore rotation is currently uncertain, as both Kyle Bradish and John Means are finishing up their respective rehab assignments and are expected to soon return to the big club. • Pablo López defeats Angels to improve to 2-2
Pablo López picked up his second victory of the 2024 season on Sunday, limiting the Angels to four runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: López punched out eight batters on the afternoon while allowing only one base on balls. He kept the Angels off the board completely through the first four innings, but they saddled him with four runs in the fifth — courtesy of home runs from Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel. López generated 13 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the contest, posting a strong CSW of 29 percent. He now holds a 4.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 37/7 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 innings through his first six starts on the season. He’ll do battle against the Red Sox his next time out at home on Saturday. • Reid Detmers gives up five runs in loss to Twins
Reid Detmers struggled in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Twins, giving up five runs on nine hits over his five frames.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. He kept the Twins off the board through the first three innings, but they broke through in the fourth on an RBI single by Jose Miranda. They tacked on an additional four runs in the fifth inning — keyed by a two-run single off the bat of Austin Martin. Detmers got nine swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 37/10 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Guardians in Cleveland. Rotoworld Today, 5:02 pm

  • José Quintana gets through eight against Cardinals
José Quintana surrendered only run and three hits over eight innings Sunday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Quintana hadn’t lasted longer than 5 2/3 innings in any of his five starts this season before getting through eight against the feeble Cardinals today. This lowers his ERA to 3.48, but we wouldn’t trust him as a mixed-league guy right now. Rotoworld Today, 2:36 pm
