    • Jake Cronenworth homer helps Padres top D-Backs
Jake Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with a homer and two doubles in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Cronenworth swatted one of three homers for the Padres on Friday, with his being a solo shot off Slade Cecconi. Cronenworth has shown solid power to begin the 2024 season, as he’s up to six homers, nine doubles and a .516 slugging percentage through 122 at-bats. It’s certainly understandable to be skeptical considering that the 30-year-old hasn’t slugged above .400 over the last two seasons, but the results are awfully promising right now. • Dealing with back soreness
Garcia was unavailable for Friday's game against the Nationals due to back soreness, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Garcia reportedly started having issues with his back after his previous appearance Wednesday. Manager John Schneider said after Friday's contest that Garcia is considered day-to-day, so it's unlikely the right-hander will need to spend any time on the injured list. • Brandon Marsh knocks in two in Phillies’ win
Brandon Marsh had a two-run single and a stolen base Friday as the Phillies edged the Giants 4-3.

Advice: Marsh is still in a little rut that’s seen him go 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in his last six games. He got off to a fast start last year, only to cool off in May. We suspect that he’s a better player now than he was then, but he’s probably going to remain streaky with his strikeout tendencies. • Launches fifth homer
McMahon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 29-year-old led off the sixth inning by hammering a Martin Perez changeup out of PNC Park completely and into the Allegheny River, becoming only the second Colorado player in history to accomplish the feat after Todd Helton back in 2001. Three of McMahon's five homers this year have come in the last eight games, and the power surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .319/.407/.513 with 13 runs and 19 RBI in 32 contests. • Ryan McMahon goes 2-for-5, homers in win
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 and hit his fifth homer Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Both hits were against a lefty in Martín Pérez. If McMahon were on a better team, he’d probably be a platoon player at this point, as he was bad against lefties in 2022 and even worse last season. This year, though, he’s batting .350 with two homers in 40 at-bats versus southpaws. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:49 pm

    • Removed with sore hamstring
Turner was removed from Friday's game against the Giants due to left hamstring soreness, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Turner stole second base and then scored from second on a passed ball during the fourth inning, but he was replaced on defense by Edmundo Sosa before the fifth frame. It remains unknown how severe Turner's injury is, but the Phillies should offer an update on his status in the near future. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:44 pm

    • Trea Turner leaves game with sore hamstring
Trea Turner was forced to leave Friday’s matchup against the Giants due to soreness in his left hamstring.

Advice: The speedy 30-year-old shortstop singled, stole a base and raced all the way around from second to score on a wild pitch as Bryce Harper walked in the fifth inning, but it seemed to have taken a toll on his hamstring as he was replaced when the Phillies took the field. The severity of the issue — and whether or not he’ll miss any time — remain unclear. More should be known on his status prior to Saturday’s game against the Giants. All fantasy managers can do now is sit tight and hope for the best. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:39 pm

    • Trea Turner exits game with injury on Friday night
Trea Turner was removed from Friday night’s contest against the Giants in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: Uh oh. That’s never what you want to hear. The 30-year-old superstar literally created a run on his own in the bottom of the fourth inning as he smacked a two-out single, stole second base and then raced around to score from second base on walk by Bryce Harper as the ball bounced away from the catcher. It’s possible that he tweaked a hamstring or something while zooming around the bases, but hopefully it’s nothing major. Look for the Phillies to provide an update on his status shortly. • Double, RBI in loss
O'Neill went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: O'Neill had a terrific first month in a Boston uniform and continues to outperform his career standards. The outfielder has a 1.096 OPS, second in MLB behind only Mookie Betts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 am
