    • In line to start Tuesday
Sanchez will start Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Sanchez was available in relief for Saturday's game, but because he wasn't needed, he's now set up to start Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spencer Turnbull will be available in relief Sunday in what could wind up being a piggyback situation with Taijuan Walker. The roles of all three pitchers seem somewhat in flux. • Jurickson Profar has jack and a bag in victory
Jurickson Profar went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a stolen base on Saturday night as the Padres demolished the Diamondbacks in San Diego.

Advice: Profar didn’t seem to mind being dropped down to the fifth spot in the lineup following the addition of Luis Arraez. He reached on a fielder’s choice and swiped a base in the opening inning but was left stranded at second. He then led off the fourth inning with a single and scored on a ground ball off the bat of Luis Campusano. He also helped to pad the Padres’ lead with a 395-foot (102.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Brandon Hughes in the seventh inning, making it a 7-0 ballgame. Conventional wisdom says that he’ll eventually crash back to earth, but Profar is on top of the world right now. He’s slashing a robust .347/.435/.542 with five homers, 23 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 8:07 pm
    • Turner expects to miss six-plus weeks with injury
Trea Turner told reporters that he expects to miss at least six weeks with his hamstring injury.

Advice: Turner told reporters that anything prior to a six-week return would “be a win.” It’s a significant blow for both fantasy managers and the Phillies — and Turner himself, of course — as the shortstop was once again playing at an elite level. Edmundo Sosa should see most of the reps at shortstop while Turner is out, but he’s a far cry from the player that Turner is. Rotoworld Today, 12:18 pm

    • Out at least six weeks
Turner (hamstring) said Saturday that he expects to miss at least six weeks with his left hamstring strain and that a return sooner than that "would be a win," Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Turner strained his left hamstring Friday against the Cubs, and he was placed on the 10-day IL a day later. It's a big blow for the Phillies, as Turner has been one of their most productive players at the plate this season with an .852 OPS, second on the team behind Alec Bohm. Six weeks would take Turner to a potential return for mid-June, though the star shortstop could be out until July depending on how he progresses in his rehab. Philadelphia will turn to Edmundo Sosa to be the primary shortstop with Turner on the shelf, and Bryson Stott could shift over from second base in platoon lineups against right-handed pitching. • Garcia (lower back) could be available Saturday
Yimi Garcia (back) will throw before Saturday’s game to determine his availability.

Advice: Garcia has been unavailable while dealing with a lower back injury. The right-hander will throw before the game, and the Blue Jays will make a determination as to whether he’s available for the contest or not. Garcia has been outstanding in 2024 with a 0.68 ERA and 16/3 K/BB over 13 1/3 innings over 13 appearances. Rotoworld Today, 11:36 am

    • Headed to IL
The Phillies placed Turner on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Turner left before the fifth inning of Friday's game against the Cubs after straining his left hamstring running bases in the fourth frame. The 30-year-old shortstop was off to a hot start this season, slashing .343/.392/.460 with 10 doubles, 10 stolen bases, two home runs and nine RBI over 148 plate appearances. Edmundo Sosa is slated to take over as the primary shortstop while Turner recovers from his injury. The Phillies recalled infielder Kody Clemens from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. • Turner heads to 10-day IL with hamstring injury
Phillies placed INF Trea Turner on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Turner was removed from Friday’s game against the Giants with soreness in his hamstring, and the Phillies will be without the 30-year-old shortstop for the next week-plus — likely longer. Kody Clemens is up as the corresponding transaction. Edmundo Sosa will likely see most of the reps at shortstop while Turner recovers. Rotoworld Today, 10:49 am

    • Takes big step in recovery
Cole (elbow) threw 15 pitches off a mound Saturday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Advice: This was Cole's first bullpen session since he was shut down from throwing in mid-March, thus it was a significant milestone as the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner works his way back to the Yankees rotation. Per Goodman, Cole was "giddy" after throwing Saturday, so it appears the session went well. The veteran right-hander is eligible to come off the IL near the end of this month, but recent reports suggest that mid-June may be a more realistic target. Rotowire.com Today, 10:34 am

    • Cole (elbow) throws 15 pitches in bullpen session
Gerrit Cole (elbow) threw 15 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: It’s the first session for Cole since March when the right-hander was shut down with nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The next step is likely another session in the pen for the 33-year-old, but it’s a positive sign with Cole reportedly “giddy” over how things went. The hope is that he can return to the mound in the middle of June. So far, so good. Rotoworld Today, 8:21 am
