With his pedigree, it comes as no surprise that the Yankees are being cautious with their ace, who produced a 2.63 ERA with a 9.6 K/9 over 209 innings in 33 starts last year.       Edward Cabrera allowed four runs in four innings while fanning nine against the Rockies on Thursday.

      Advice: Cabrera pitched better than this line suggests, but a three-run homer by Jacob Stallings turned a strong outing into a mediocre one. The right-hander did have command issues, however, as he walked four and threw 56-of-91 pitches for strikes. Still, an encouraging outing that showed off the 26-year-old’s swing-and-miss potential. Cabrera had the strikeout pitch working Thursday, though his command remained inconsistent, as he needed 91 pitches to record just 12 outs. Cabrera's now been held to fewer than five innings in consecutive outings. His ERA is up to 6.05 with a 1.50 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through his first four starts (19.1 innings).
