    • Brandon Marsh knocks in two in Phillies’ win
Brandon Marsh had a two-run single and a stolen base Friday as the Phillies edged the Giants 4-3.

Advice: Marsh is still in a little rut that’s seen him go 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in his last six games. He got off to a fast start last year, only to cool off in May. We suspect that he’s a better player now than he was then, but he’s probably going to remain streaky with his strikeout tendencies. • Double, RBI in loss
O'Neill went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: O'Neill had a terrific first month in a Boston uniform and continues to outperform his career standards. The outfielder has a 1.096 OPS, second in MLB behind only Mookie Betts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 am

    • Tyler O’Neill drives in run, reaches three times
Tyler O’Neill drove in a run while reaching three times in a loss to the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: O’Neill was responsible for the only run of the game for the Red Sox with a double off Kyle Harrison in the third that scored Rafael Devers. O’Neill was also able to draw a pair of walks, and he improves his line in 2024 to .309/.429/.667. Calling his first month-plus as a member of the Red Sox is quite the understatement. • Goes 4-for-4 on Wednesday
Profar went 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win against Cincinnati.

Advice: Profar recorded his first four-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance over his past four contests. He's thrived since moving into the leadoff spot April 28, going 10-for-16 with a homer, three runs and three RBI over the four-game stretch. Profar is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak during which he is batting an even .500 (15-for-30), lifting his season average to .342. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:18 am
    • Yankees activate Alex Verdugo from paternity list
Yankees activated OF Alex Verdugo from the paternity list.

Advice: Verdugo will return for the final game of a four-game series against Baltimore. The 27-year-old outfielder is on pace for his best OPS percentage since 2020 when he was with the Red Sox. He’s currently slashing .267/.358/.446 across 120 plate appearances this season. • Returns from paternity leave
The Yankees activated Verdugo from the paternity list Thursday.

Advice: Verdugo missed three games while tending to more important personal matters, but he's rejoined the club Thursday and presumably will be back in the lineup for their afternoon tilt against the Orioles. Aaron Judge played some left field while Verdugo was away but will now return to center field. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:20 am

    • Jackson Merrill goes hitless Wednesday in victory
Jackson Merrill went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Don’t look now, but Merrill has gone 0-for-19 in six contests over the last week. The 21-year-old top prospect looked extremely impressive at the outset of the season in his Padres debut, but has hit a frosty stretch at the dish of late, which also coincides with a nagging groin issue that he’s been playing through. It’s entirely possible he’s not close to 100 percent at the moment, which is impacting his on-field results. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:46 pm

    • Jurickson Profar tallies four hits in victory
Jurickson Profar went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Profar’s unexpected hot start continues to roll on as his latest four-hit performance raises his batting average to an astronomical .342 mark through 34 contests. He’s only added four homers and one steal, so we’re not forecasting a late-career renaissance for the 31-year-old former top overall prospect, but it’s worth noting that his latest hot streak is probably enough to land him some opportunities in the future to prolong his career. • Resting against lefty
Marsh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: The Phillies will withhold Marsh and fellow lefty-hitting regular Bryson Stott from the lineup for the series finale while the Angels bring southpaw Patrick Sandoval to the hill. Kyle Schwarber checks in as the Phillies' starting left fielder in Marsh's stead. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:30 am
