• David Bednar turns in scoreless ninth for save
David Bednar tossed a scoreless ninth for his sixth save Sunday against the Rockies.

Advice: This after he picked up a win Saturday. Bednar had allowed runs in three straight outings prior to yesterday. He’ll almost certainly get Monday off now, which could lead to a save chance for Aroldis Chapman. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Ryan Feltner gives up five runs in loss to Pirates
Ryan Feltner lost to the Pirates after surrendering five runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday.

Advice: Feltner allowed eight hits, walked none and struck out three. It’s a disappointing result for those who streamed Feltner in weekly leagues, looking to take advantage of his weak schedule. Still, at least those people didn’t pick Trevor Rogers instead. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Giants recall Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Jefferies had just been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, but he’ll return with Tom Murphy (knee) landing on the injured list prior to Sunday’s contest. The 28-year-old hurler has really struggled in two outings for the Giants this season, posting a miserable 17.36 ERA, 3.43 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings. He’ll add length in the middle innings for the Giants. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Giants designate Mitch White for assignment
Giants designated RHP Mitch White for assignment.

Advice: The Giants were faced with a 40-man roster crunch after losing a pair of catchers to injury, so they needed to free up a spot to add Jakson Reetz on Sunday and White was left as the odd-man out. The 29-year-old right-hander could attract some interest on waivers. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Carlos Carrasco strong for six in downing Angels
Carlos Carrasco limited the Angels to one run in six innings as the Guardians prevailed 4-1 on Sunday.

Advice: Carrasco picked up his second win while lasting six innings for the first time in seven starts this season. He has a 5.67 ERA and a poor 26/17 K/BB ratio through 33 1/3 innings. Next up for him is a start in Chicago against the White Sox. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Griffin Canning turns in first quality start in loss
Griffith Canning took a tough loss after allowing two runs in six innings Sunday against the Guardians.

Advice: It’s his first quality start of the year. Canning had a shutout going into the sixth, when he allowed a single and then a homer to José Ramírez. He allowed only two other hits in the game, both of which were singles, and walked one. Canning now has a 4.64 ERA in his last four starts. That’s still not great or even very good, but it’s a whole lot better than his 9.88 mark from his first three outings. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Headed to bullpen or Triple-A
Brown is not slated to start for the Cubs in this week's series against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: It seems like Hayden Wesneski beat out Brown for the fifth starter's spot, at least until Kyle Hendricks (back) gets activated. Brown had a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 8.1 innings over his last two starts. He doesn't have great numbers this year as a reliever (7.27 ERA, 1.50 WHIP), so perhaps Brown will join the Triple-A Iowa rotation once Justin Steele (hamstring) is activated Monday. • Earns another start
Wesneski will start Wednesday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: The Cubs are getting Justin Steele (hamstring) back this week and Kyle Hendricks (back) could return next week, but Wesneski earned at least one more turn in the rotation. Wesneski blanked the Brewers over 6.1 innings while striking out eight Friday, marking the first time he has logged over four innings in the majors this season. He has a 0.54 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and a 14:3 K:BB in 16.2 innings across four appearances. Ben Brown could be the odd man out, unless the Cubs go with a six-man rotation this week. • Back in majors
The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Advice: The right-hander was optioned to El Paso on April 26 after making a couple starts for San Diego, and he'll rejoin the big club Sunday since Joe Musgrove (elbow) landed on the injured list. Vasquez allowed five earned runs with a 5:3 K:BB over 7.2 frames in his two outings and could step into the rotation for Musgrove, who had been scheduled to pitch Tuesday against the Cubs.
