• Solid over six frames versus Boston
Ryan (1-2) was tagged with the loss after he pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five batters in Sunday's 9-2 defeat to the Red Sox.

Advice: Ryan tossed three scoreless frames to open his outing Sunday before giving up an RBI double to Rob Refsnyder in the fourth and then a two-run homer to Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth inning. The right-hander has now recorded three straight quality starts and he has yet to allow more than three runs in any outing this season. Ryan will carry a 3.54 ERA and 1.01 WHIP into his next projected start Friday in Toronto. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Struggles mightily in return
Manoah did not factor into the decision, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks over four innings Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out six.

Advice: Manoah struggled with his command throughout, also hitting a batter to allow 11 baserunners and six earned runs including two homers during his first start of the season. It was not the type of start the Blue Jays were hoping to see out of the fourth-year starter, who compiled a 2.59 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 307 strikeouts over 308.1 innings during his first two seasons but struggled to a 5.87 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 87.1 innings last season spanning 19 starts. The Blue Jays are hopeful Manoah can return to form this season, but fantasy managers will be wise to proceed with skepticism until the 26-year-old righty starts to show signs that he's working past his funk. His next turn would tentatively be slated for next weekend at home against the Twins, though this performance likely indicates his next start is far from assured. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Jon Gray fans seven in seven fine innings
Jon Gray held the Royals to two runs in seven innings and struck out seven against the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Gray got 17 missed swings today, including 13 on just 34 sliders, and walked none in another excellent outing. Since giving up five runs in his season debut, he’s allowed a total of four earned runs in 36 innings, leaving him with a 2.50 ERA. If history repeats, he’s about due for an injury... it often seems to happen after his stronger stretches like this. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this time around. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Daniel Lynch IV goes five scoreless against Rangers
Daniel Lynch IV blanked the Rangers for five innings in his season debut for the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Not bad for a guy who had a 5.86 ERA in Triple-A. This was supposed to be a spot start for Lynch, since Alec March is coming off the IL later this week. We suspect that nothing has changed on that front, but at least Lynch ensured that he’ll get another chance next time the Royals need a starter. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Issues six walks
Severino didn't factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits with six walks across five innings against the Rays. He struck out six.

Advice: Despite yielding just four hits, Severino gave up a season-high four earned runs Sunday. His struggles stemmed from a lack of command, doling out a career-high six walks -- two of which game around to score. Still, Severino's ERA sits at 2.93 through 40 innings. He's lined up for a start Saturday against Atlanta, a tough matchup for a bounceback. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Sixto Sánchez is inconsisent in start
Sixto Sánchez allowed two runs on three hits in four innings in a no-decision against the A’s.

Advice: Sánchez also walked three and struck out two. Somehow, he was the better of the two starters on the night. He had just a 17 percent whiff rate and his four-seam fastball velocity was down two mph from his previous outing. Sánchez has a 7.50 ERA and should not be on fantasy rosters, especially since he is likely losing his spot in the Marlins rotation. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Joe Boyle only lasts one inning in start
Joe Boyle allowed four runs on one hit and three walks in one inning in a loss to the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Boyle threw 35 pitches and just 16 of them were for strikes. He walked the first three batters to start the game, then gave up a fielder’s choice and a three-run homer. While he got out of the inning, he did not return for the second. So far on the season, Boyle has allowed 24 walks in just 27 2/3 innings to go along with a 7.16 ERA. He should not be rostered in fantasy leagues and is a perfect example of why we shouldn’t overreact to the stats from a few spring training performances. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

  • Mike Clevinger could start for White Sox on Monday
Mike Clevinger is tentatively scheduled to make his 2024 season debut on Monday against the Rays.

Advice: The White Sox have yet to confirm anything, and have Monday’s starter listed as TBD, but barring something unexpected it sounds like the 33-year-old right-hander will get the ball. The 33-year-old right-hander has only logged 7 1/3 innings through two starts at Triple-A Charlotte, so he shouldn’t be expected to work too deeply in Monday’s matchup against the Rays if he does indeed get the ball. • Strikes out nine in quality start
Cortes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Tigers. He struck out nine.

Advice: Cortes matched a season high with nine strikeouts as he allowed only four baserunners in the contest. Cortes shut out the Tigers through six but was pulled with one out in the seventh after allowing two base hits in the inning. Both runners eventually came around to score, tying the game and ending Cortes' bid to earn his second win. It was the fourth quality start in eight games for Cortes, who lowered his ERA to 3.72 with a 1.03 WHIP and 46 strikeouts through 48.1 innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled to take place next weekend when the Yankees travel to Tampa for a division showdown against the Rays. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
