• Returns to Angels' lineup
Rengifo (illness) will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Advice: Rengifo missed a couple games while battling an illness but feels well enough to give it a go Monday against Mitch Keller and the Pirates. He's sporting a robust .413/.481/.609 batting line with two home runs and four stolen bases over his last 14 games. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Cole Tucker gets second straight start for LAA
Cole Tucker is starting at third base for the Angels and hitting eighth against the Pirates on Monday.

Advice: Tucker was called up a week ago and has now started in four games, including the last two at this base. The 27-year-old is 5-for-12 with two doubles, a run, an RBI, and three steals so far. The former Pirates prospect hasn’t been able to sustain any production at the MLB level, but he was showing a more aggressive, pull-centric approach at Triple-A and has been running often in his brief stint with the Angels. He could be worth a dart throw in AL-only and other deep formats to see if he can carve out a full-time job for the banged-up Angels. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • Facing four-week absence
The Guardians expect Kwan to miss approximately four weeks after placing him on the 10-day injured list earlier Monday with an acute left hamstring strain, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kwan was diagnosed with the acute hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI following his early exit from Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. With imaging determining that he sustained more than a mild injury, Kwan will be sidelined well beyond the minimum 10 days, and a more precise return date likely won't come into focus until he reaches the point in his rehab where he's performing baseball activities. The Guardians are likely to turn to Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Gabriel Arias to fill in for Kwan in the corner outfield, while prospect Kyle Manzardo was promoted from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and should take on an everyday role at designated hitter for at least the next few weeks. • Connor Joe batting cleanup for Pirates on Monday
Connor Joe is starting for the Pirates on Monday against the Angels and batting cleanup.

Advice: Joe has now started the last three games and five of the last six. He most often plays against lefties but gets the occasional start against righties as well. The 31-year-old is hitting .290/.372/.460 on the season with three home runs, 14 RBI, and two steals. With the Pirates set to face three lefties this week, Joe could see some more at-bats than usual. Rowdy Tellez and Jack Suwinski will take a seat against left-hander Tyler Anderson with Edward Olivares also in the lineup in right field and batting fifth. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Sitting against lefty
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Suwinski will retreat to the bench with southpaw Tyler Anderson taking the hill for the Angels. With Suwinski on the bench, the Pirates will run out an outfield of Bryan Reynolds, Michael Taylor and Edward Olivares from left to right. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Guardians place Steven Kwan on IL
Guardians placed Steven Kwan (hamstring) on the 10-day IL.

Advice: Kwan left Saturday’s game because of tightness in the hamstring, and did not start in Sunday’s finale against the Angels. Kwan has mentioned battling hamstring injuries in theoast, so both he and the Guardians want to be cautious in this instance. Kyle Manzardo was called up from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Exits 40-man roster
The Rays designated Goodrum for assignment Monday.

Advice: Goodrum had been sent down to Triple-A Durham a few days ago and is now off the 40-man roster. The utility player has a career .685 OPS over parts of seven big-league seasons. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Heads to 10-day IL
The Guardians placed Kwan on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Cleveland hasn't disclosed the grade of Kwan's hamstring strain, which he suffered in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. The injury forced him to miss his second game of the season Sunday, and he'll be sidelined through at least May 14 as a result of landing on the IL. The Guardians called up prospect Kyle Manzardo from Triple-A Columbus to take over Kwan's spot on the 26-man active roster, and Manzardo should also inherit an everyday role while the 26-year-old outfielder is on the shelf. Manzardo will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Monday's series opener versus the Tigers and will hit seventh, while Estevan Florial will fill in for Kwan in left field and atop the batting order. • Activated for season debut
The Rays activated Lowe (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Lowe originally went on the IL prior to Opening Day with an oblique strain and more recently dealt with a hamstring issue during his minor-league rehab assignment. He's healthy now after resuming his rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham this past Thursday and is finally ready for his 2024 Rays debut following a nearly six-week absence. The 26-year-old had a breakout 2023 campaign with Tampa Bay, hitting 20 home runs and stealing 32 bases. Rotowire.com 43 minutes ago
