    • Eugenio Suárez goes 0-for-4 against Dodgers
Even as his teammates were combining to put up nine runs, Eugenio Suárez went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Thursday against the Dodgers.

Advice: The Diamondbacks said after Geraldo Perdomo returned last month that they’d start giving Blaze Alexander time over Suárez at third base, but not only did they not to do that, they’ve since sent down Alexander, even though Suárez has done nothing to inspire any confidence. He’s at .200/.287/.319 through 327 plate appearances. He has 96 strikeouts and 91 total bases. He’s gone hitless in exactly half of his 82 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 pm
    • Homer, steal in win
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, one stolen base and two total runs scored in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Rodriguez earned his first multi-hit effort and swatted his first homer in 15 games. During the slump, he went just 7-for-56 (.125) while failing to log an extra-base hit or RBI. Rodriguez's recent poor play has seen him bounce around the lineup in an effort to get his bat going -- he hit fifth Thursday but had batted seventh in the previous two games. Overall, he's slashing .247/.296/.336 with eight homers, 30 RBI, 39 runs scored and 18 steals through 88 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:42 pm

    • Reaches 10-steal mark
Gelof went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Angels.

Advice: The steal was Gelof's 10th of the year. He's picked up two of those thefts during an eight-game stretch in which he's gone 7-for-27 with a 4:13 BB:K. The second baseman is at a .201/.263/.361 slash line with nine home runs, 23 RBI and 30 runs scored over 67 contests, and his 36.2 percent strikeout rate is weighing down the rest of his stat line. • Julio Rodríguez blasts first homer since June 15
Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and also stole a base on Thursday, powering the Mariners to a 7-3 victory over the Orioles.

Advice: Rodríguez connected for his first homer since June 15 when he launched a towering 428-foot blast to left field off Orioles ace Corbin Burnes in the fifth inning. It was his eighth round-tripper of the season and a much-needed sign for the 23-year-old superstar, who has been mired in a season-long tailspin at the dish. The absence of over-the-fence pop has been the most alarming trend in his sudden decline, so this performance certainly qualifies as a step in the right direction. He’s still a long way from getting back to his previous form, but there are some signs of life now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:10 pm

    • Picks up seventh steal
Cruz went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Cruz reached base on a single in the first and proceeded to steal second but failed to score. Cruz doesn't run often, but he's successful when he does, as he's only been caught stealing once in 12 attempts since the beginning of 2023. The 25-year-old is slashing .240/.294/.425 with 12 homers, 37 RBI, and seven steals this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:49 pm

    • Marcus Semien getting a day off on Thursday
Marcus Semien is not in the Rangers’ lineup on Thursday.

Advice: It’s a rare off day for Semien, who has played all 162 games in three of the last four non-COVID seasons and played 161 games in the other year. However, the day off might be needed as Semien has been struggling at the dish of late. Jonathan Ornelas still start at second and bat ninth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:00 am

    • Rare day off amidst slump
Semien is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Advice: It's just the second day off of the season for Semien, who has managed just two hits over his last 36 at-bats. Jonathan Ornelas will handle second base for the Rangers on Thursday while Semien receives some much-needed rest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:53 am

    • Two weeks out from rehab assignment
Casas (ribs) is likely two weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The two-week estimate for the beginning of a rehab assignment pushes Casas' targeted return date to later in July. He's progressed to taking dry swings in the batting cage, having done so June 26 and again July 3. He's also tracked pitches against the Trajekt machine, which mimics MLB pitchers. The next big step for Casas will be hitting the ball in on-field batting practice. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:32 am

    • Picks up eighth victory
Abbott (8-6) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Abbott wasn't overpowering -- he induced just six swinging strikes and notched only two punchouts -- but he got the job done with his sixth quality start of the campaign. The southpaw allowed only one extra-base hit (a double) and didn't yield a run while he was in the game, as the only score charged to his ledger came after he departed with one out in the seventh inning. Through 17 starts, Abbott is up to eight wins, which is as many as he logged across 21 outings as a rookie last year. He's improved upon his ratios with a 3.28 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, though his 6.9 K/9 is a dramatic drop-off from his 9.9 K/9 last year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:00 am
