    • Jackson Holliday resumes mashing at Triple-A
Orioles 2B/SS prospect Jackson Holliday went 3-for-6 with an RBI on Tuesday for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Holliday flopped in his first taste of the big leagues as Baltimore continued to challenge him from a development standpoint. However, that shouldn’t diminish fantasy managers’ long-term optimism. The latest multi-hit effort raises his Triple-A slash line to .321/.451/.554 with nine extra-base hits and one steal through 13 contests. He’ll get some extended time in the minors to continue ironing out contact issues and struggles against left-handed pitching, but it’s only a matter of time before he gets another shot in Baltimore. • Resting Tuesday
Cruz isn't in the Pirates' lineup Tuesday against the Athletics, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Cruz is slashing .094/.121/.094 against left-handed pitchers this season, so he will get a day off with Alex Wood set to take the mound for Oakland. Alika Williams will take his place at shortstop while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:29 pm

    • Stolen base in return to lineup
Cruz went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Sunday against the Giants.

Advice: Cruz was held out of Saturday's lineup after tweaking his ankle in the series opener against the Giants. He notably moved up the order to hit third in his return Sunday and seemed to put the injury issue behind him as he swiped his third base of the season. Cruz is off to a slow start to the campaign, but he's shown some improvement of late by going 8-for-22 with a 25 percent strikeout rate across his last seven games. • Returns to lineup Sunday
Cruz (ankle) is starting at shortstop and batting third Sunday against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Cruz was held out of the lineup Saturday after he tweaked his ankle in Friday's series opener, but he's back in the starting nine Sunday. The 25-year-old is without a home run since April 13 and has a .205/.286/.250 slash line and 38.8 percent strikeout rate during that 13-game stretch. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:53 am

    • Oneil Cruz sits with injured ankle on Saturday
Oneil Cruz was held out of the Pirates’ starting lineup on Saturday due to an injured ankle.

Advice: The dynamic 25-year-old shortstop tweaked his ankle during Friday night’s game against the Giants and was given a night off on Saturday to rest it. For the time being, he’s considered day-to-day. Alika Williams will start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Jordan Hicks and the Giants on Saturday evening in San Francisco. • Sitting with injured ankle
Cruz isn't in Pittsburgh's lineup Saturday against the Giants after tweaking his ankle during Friday's game, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Cruz hurt his ankle after sliding into third base during the ninth inning of Friday's game, and it is apparently bothering him enough to warrant a day off Saturday. While he recovers, Alika Williams will start at shortstop and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 3:23 pm

    • Sent back to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Advice: The top prospect made his big-league debut April 10 in Boston to much fanfare, but he looked entirely overmatched at the plate in his first couple weeks of MLB action. Holliday went 2-for-34 with two walks, five runs and 18 strikeouts in 10 games, so the Orioles opted to return him to Norfolk. The 20-year-old could rejoin Baltimore for another look later in the season, but for now he'll head back to Triple-A, where he posted a 1.077 OPS in 56 plate appearances to start the year. • Orioles option Jackson Holliday to Triple-A
Orioles optioned 2B/SS Jackson Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: There was a ton of excitement for Baltimore’s top prospect to join the major league. However, the 20-year-old got off to a really cold start and the team is making the decision to send him back to the minors. Holliday had an excellent spring training, but that didn’t correlate to the regular season where he had just two hits in his 36 plate appearances in his 10 games with the Orioles. Baseball is a tough sport and sometimes hitting the reset button is the best option for a struggling young player. Rotoworld Friday, 10:22 am

    • Benched against lefty
Holliday is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Holliday will take a seat for the second time in three days while the Angels bring another southpaw (Tyler Anderson) to the hill for the series finale. Jorge Mateo will check in at second base in place of Holliday, who is off to a 2-for-34 start to his big-league career since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Norfolk on April 10.
