    • Kenley Jansen closes out Yankees on Sunday night
Kenley Jansen closed out the Yankees on Sunday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a three-run advantage.

Advice: The 36-year-old hurler picked up his 18th save of the season for his troubles. He made quick work of the Yankees in this one, getting Ben Rice on a ground ball to first, Juan Soto on a liner to left and Aaron Judge on a swinging third strike to end it. Jansen has been as reliable as ever this season, converting 18 of his first 19 save chances while posting a 2.01 ERA over 31 1/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:33 pm
    • Eugenio Suárez homers, drives in five in victory
Eugenio Suárez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a three-run double in leading the Diamondbacks to a 9-1 drubbing of the Padres on Sunday.

Advice: The homer was his just 350 feet and would have left only five of the 30 ballparks, but Suárez deserves some good fortune. He had one more RBI today than in his previous 20 starts combined, and it was just his second game this year with at least three runs driven in. He’s batting .210/.298/.339 overall. • Live BP up next
Williams (back) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Tuesday at American Family Field, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Williams began throwing off a mound in late June, and it didn't take long for him to be cleared to face live hitters. The right-hander will require a minor-league rehab assignment before being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, though it's unclear how many outings he might need. The Brewers have been targeting the July 30 trade deadline as a general target date for Williams' return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:30 pm

    • Williams (back) could begin rehab assignment soon
Devin Williams (back) will throw a live bullpen Tuesday.

Advice: Williams has had a few bullpen sessions as of late, and he’s filling will enough to face live hitters Tuesday. If that goes well, the next step for Williams could be a rehab assignment. Williams has missed all of the season with a stress fracture in his back, and he should return to a stopping role before the end of July if there are no setbacks. • Sitting Sunday
Rodriguez (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays but could be available as a pinch hitter, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old was removed early in Saturday's contest due to discomfort in his lower right quadricep, though it doesn't appear he's dealing with a serious injury. Rodriguez may be available off the bench, but the Mariners could play it safe and give him a couple days to rest up as the team has a scheduled day off Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 am

    • MRI comes back clean on Rodríguez’s right quad
An MRI on Julio Rodríguez’s right quad showed no stuctural damage.

Advice: Rodríguez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, but the outfielder is being kept out for precautionary measures according to manager Scott Servais, and he could be available off the bench. Even with the 23-year-old struggling for most of the 2024 campaign, this is obviously welcome news to fantasy managers who hope to see better things from Rodríguez in the second half of 2024. • Julio Rodríguez (quad) out Sunday against Toronto
Julio Rodríguez (quad) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s finale against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Rodríguez was removed with a right quad injury during Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays, and it’s unsurprising that he’s going to miss at least one full game with the injury. How much more time he misses will depend on the results of his MRI. Victor Robles gets the start in center field and will hit ninth against Toronto on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:22 am

    • Taking seat against lefty Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The shortstop was hit by an Edwin Diaz fastball in the ninth inning Saturday, but there's been no indication Cruz sustained a significant injury from being plunked. Even so, the Pirates will give the lefty-hitting Cruz the afternoon off Sunday while southpaw Sean Manaea takes the hill for the Mets. Jared Triolo will check in at shortstop for Cruz, who had started in each of the previous six games while going 8-for-22 with two home runs, one double, three walks, one stolen base, five RBI and three runs. • Rejoining lineup Sunday
Alvarez (elbow) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez was held out for Saturday's 5-2 win after he was struck in the left elbow by a fastball in Friday's 14-2 loss in the series opener, but the day off was apparently all the young catcher needed to overcome the soreness he had been experiencing. Since returning from the injured list June 11, Alvarez has slashed .338/.413/.600 with three home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:12 am
