Mendick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Though he started at second base in Tuesday's 7-6 loss while the lefty-hitting Nicky Lopez was out of the lineup versus Cubs southpaw Shota Imanaga, Mendick finds himself on the bench for the second matchup in a row with a right-hander. Mendick looked as though he could get a look in an everyday role at third base after Bryan Ramos was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte last week, but Lenyn Sosa appears to have since settled in as the primary option at the hot corner. • On bench against lefty again
Palacios is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The Rays are facing a lefty (Braxton Garrett) for the third straight game, and the lefty-hitting Palacios has been on the bench for each of those contests. Palacios appears to be a strict platoon player for Tampa Bay, with right-handed hitters Harold Ramirez, Jonny DeLuca or Amed Rosario typically replacing him in the lineup when the Rays face left-handed pitchers. • Sitting in second straight
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Since Max Muncy made his last start May 15 before landing on the injured list with an oblique strain, Hernandez has served as the Dodgers' primary option at the hot corner. However, after starting at third base in the first seven games of Muncy's absence, Hernandez's hold on an everyday role may be slipping. He'll be on the bench for the second day in a row, with Chris Taylor getting the nod at the hot corner Wednesday after Miguel Rojas occupied the position Tuesday. Hernandez's move to the bench comes while he's supplied just five hits in 37 at-bats (.135 average) over his last 13 games. Rotowire.com Today, 12:43 pm

    • Retreating to bench Wednesday
Loftin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Loftin had started in six of the previous seven games and looks to have emerged as the Royals' preferred option at second base in the absence of Michael Massey (back), but Loftin will give way to Garrett Hampson at the keystone Wednesday. Since being called up from Triple-A Omaha on May 26, Loftin is hitting .261 with an RBI and a run scored. Rotowire.com Today, 12:36 pm

    • Losing work at second base
Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Frazier appeared set to take over as the Royals' primary second baseman when Michael Massey (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list May 26, but Nick Loftin has seen the majority of the starts at the keystone over the past week. The 32-year-old had been included in the lineup in both of the the Royals' previous two games, but both of his starts came in the corner outfield while Loftin manned second base. Neither Frazier nor Lofton will start Wednesday, however, as Garrett Hampson covers the keystone while MJ Melendez and Hunter Renfroe cover the corner-outfield spots. Rotowire.com Today, 12:34 pm

    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Norby is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Toronto.

Advice: Norby started the first two games of the series and cranked his first major league home run (and hit) Tuesday, but he'll begin Wednesday's festivities on the bench. Jordan Westburg will play second base while Ramon Urias gets a start at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 12:17 pm

    • BoSox prospect Nick Yorke bumped up to Triple-A
The Red Sox have moved Nick Yorke up to Triple-A Worcester, according to the Boston Herald’s Mac Cerullo.

Advice: Yorke, a 2020 first-round pick, was hitting a modest .251/.325/.366 in 45 games at Double-A Portland. His stock is down from a couple of years ago, but there’s still hope for him as a starting second baseman. He only turned 22 in April. Rotoworld Today, 12:03 pm

    • Retreating to bench
Schmitt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Schmitt started at shortstop in each of the previous four games and went 5-for-12 with a pair of home runs, but he still looks to be stuck in a part-time role with the Giants. He benefited from Thairo Estrada missing three of the previous four games with a thumb injury, resulting in Brett Wisely picking up starts at the keystone on all three occasions. Wisely and Estrada should serve as the Giants' primary middle infielders now that both are healthy, and Schmitt could be at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Sacramento once shortstop Nick Ahmed (wrist) makes his way back from the 10-day injured list. • Idle against lefty
Wisely is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Wisely will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Giants face off against another southpaw (Jordan Montgomery). Tyler Fitzgerald will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but Wisely should see the majority of the starts at the position while Nick Ahmed (wrist) remains on the injured list.
