      Kyle Tucker blasted his league-leading 12th home run on Friday night, helping to power the Astros to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the opener of their three-game set in Motown.

      Advice: Tucker finally got the Astros on the board in this one with his 409-foot (106.0 mph EV) solo shot off of Casey Mize in the sixth inning. He also drew a pair of walks and scored twice in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3.       Max Kepler is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Kepler will get a rare night off with left-hander Yusei Kikuchi toeing the slab for the Blue Jays. Kepler has been on fire at the plate since returning from the injured list, slashing .434/.492/.755 with three homers, 14 RBI and a stolen base in 16 games.       Cubs activated OF Seiya Suzuki from the 10-day injured list.

      Advice: While the 29-year-old slugger was activated from the injured list, he is not in the Cubs’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Pirates as that had been a scheduled day of rest for him after appearing in two straight minor league rehab games. He’ll return to the Cubs’ lineup on Saturday. Suzuki has been sidelined since mid-April due to a right oblique strain. Suzuki made two rehab appearances at Triple-A Iowa, going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and a stolen base. Garcia later added two doubles to give him his first three-hit performance of the season. The third baseman has now hit safely in four consecutive games and in six of eight to open the month of May, tallying four RBI and four runs scored over that latter stretch.       Advice: Tovar has been struggling to hit for power across the last few weeks, as he had only three extra-base hits (all doubles) across his last 21 starts entering Thursday's game. He managed to end that drought against the Giants, as he tallied both a double and a triple in the fourth inning when the Rockies batted around.       Maikel Garcia finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

      Advice: Garcia was due for some luck, and he got it tonight, as both of his doubles came on balls hit less than 80 mph. His highest EV in the contest, a 104-mph grounder, actually produced an out. The Royals have remained very patient with Garcia in the leadoff spot, and odds are that he’ll only get better from here.
