    • On bench against lefty
Cruz isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz and his .351 OPS against left-handed pitchers will retreat to the dugout Saturday as the Pirates prepare to face southpaw Max Fried. Jared Triolo will fill in as Pittsburgh's shortstop and bat seventh. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

    • Oneil Cruz absent from Saturday’s lineup vs. Braves
Oneil Cruz is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.

Advice: Despite the presence of lefty Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta in this one, this might be a mental break more than anything for Cruz, who is batting .143 (4-for-28) with two homers and one steal over his last seven games. He’s been mired in an extended funk the past few weeks, hitting .195 (23-for-118) with just four homers and two steals over his last 30 contests. Rotoworld Today, 10:22 am

    • In Saturday's lineup
Ortiz (neck) will start at third base and bat leadoff during Saturday's game versus the Cubs.

Advice: Ortiz made an early exit from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers and sat out Friday's series opener due to neck problems, but he's feeling well enough to play Saturday. The 25-year-old third baseman has found a good amount of success at the plate recently, going 5-for-14 with a solo home run over his last five games. Rotowire.com Today, 10:18 am

    • Joey Ortiz back leading off Saturday against Cubs
Joey Ortiz (neck) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: Ortiz is back at the hot corner and leading off on Saturday after sitting out Friday’s contest due to neck tightness. The 25-year-old rookie infielder has been phenomenal this season in his Brewers debut with an .835 OPS to go along with seven homers and five steals over 251 plate appearances in 72 games. • Shut down from throwing again
Romano was shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his right elbow Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: It's the second time Romano has been shut down from throwing since landing on the injured list June 1. Manager John Schneider said Saturday that Romano will get an evaluation on his right elbow from Dr. Meister on July 2, which should give clarity on next steps for the 31-year-old closer, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. Prior to his injury, Romano registered eight saves with a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 13.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:33 am
    • Jordan Romano shut down due to elbow discomfort
Jordan Romano has been shut down from throwing again after experiencing renewed right elbow discomfort.

Advice: Not good. Romano is heading for further evaluation with specialist Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday to determine his next steps. It’s the second time that Romano has been shut down during his rehabilitation process due to elbow discomfort. At this point, it’s possible the 31-year-old veteran closer could wind up requiring season-ending surgery. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days, but he’s nowhere close to returning at this point. It’ll continue to be Chad Green closing for Toronto until Yimi García (elbow) returns from the injured list. Rotoworld Today, 9:31 am
    • Beginning to ramp up rehab
Muncy (oblique) took swings off a tee, fielded groundballs and did some throwing Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Muncy's progress from a Grade 1 right oblique strain has been slow to the extent that he was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 21. However, the third baseman appears to be beginning to ramp up, and the Associated Press reports that his next step will be to take live batting practice before potentially beginning a rehab assignment. Muncy isn't expected to return to the Dodgers' lineup until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 9:22 am

    • Three hits Friday
Rafaela started at shortstop and went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday's 9-2 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Rafaela is having a productive June, but he entered the game on a 1-for-18 run. The multi-hit effort was his eighth of the month, and the infielder/outfielder is batting .417 (20-for-48) over the last 13 games. This was his third consecutive start at shortstop, as manager Alex Cora adjusts to get his hottest bats in the lineup: Jarren Duran slotted in at center field while David Hamilton manned second base. • Collects three hits Friday
Judge went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI in a 16-5 win against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: It was unusual for Judge rack up three hits without any that went for extra bases -- coming into Friday, 54 of his 88 hits on the season had been of the extra-base variety. Nonetheless, the slugger's ninth-inning, two-run single resulted in his recording of at least one RBI for the sixth time over his past 10 contests. Judge has been red-hot over that stretch, slashing .382/.462/.853 with five home runs, 16 RBI and nine runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am
