The 27-year-old got a rare start at third base Tuesday with Nolan Arenado taking a day off, though Donovan has found consistent playing time between left field and second base for much of the year. Santander has slugged four homers in the last four games, continuing a massive June that has seen him slash .292/.347/.738 with nine of his 18 long balls on the season.       Advice: The 25-year-old's shot off Roddery Munoz in the fourth inning was the third of three long balls by the Cardinals on the night, but the offense managed only one more run after that. Burleson is up to 10 homers on the season, and five of them have come in June. The surprisingly productive Smith has been a boon to the Rangers' offense which has missed Jung's bat.       Josh Smith went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the loss to the Mets.

      Advice: We’re still not really buying into Smith’s terrific start to the season, but there’s little doubt that he’ll remain in the Rangers lineup after Josh Jung returns. He’s batting .298/.386/.451 through 247 at-bats, even though his exit velocity numbers are actually worse than when he hit .185/.304/.328 last season.     • Santander hits 18th homer as O’s fall to Yanks
      Anthony Santander went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees.

      Advice: Santander broke up a shutout in the ninth inning when he homered off Clay Holmes, who was brought on in a non-save situation. After getting off to a slow start, Santander has heated up in a big way as of late. The veteran right fielder is slashing .292/.347/.738 in the month of June with nine home runs and 16 RBI.       Manager David Bell said Candelario was removed from Tuesday's win over the Pirates due to tendinitis, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: Candelario appeared to be in a bit of pain while running the bases during Tuesday's game, eventually leading to his removal during the eighth inning. However, the Reds' skipper noted that the 30-year-old infielder is not at risk of spending time on the injured list, and he seemed confident that the injury will go away relatively quickly.
