    • Eloy Jiménez to start rehab assignment next week
Eloy Jiménez (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: The oft-injured slugger has been out since mid-May with a left hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple additional weeks. The 27-year-old has struggled to a .668 OPS with five homers in 146 plate appearances this season. Rotoworld Today, 4:30 pm

    • Ronald Acuña Jr. undergoes surgery to repair torn ACL
Ronald Acuña Jr. underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Advice: Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the procedure in Los Angeles. Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters Thursday that Acuña will stay in Los Angeles for “a month or more” at the outset of his rehabilitation process, which is expected to carry into the early portion of next year. There’s optimism that the 26-year-old fantasy superstar will be ready for the start of next season, barring any setbacks. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm

    • Tommy Edman progresses to hitting from both sides
Tommy Edman (wrist) has been cleared to take batting practice from both sides of the plate.

Advice: Edman continues to work his way back from offseason surgery on his right wrist and remains without a definitive timetable to return to St. Louis at the moment. The versatile switch-hitting 29-year-old figures to be ready around the All-Star break, but he’s going to need a couple weeks of at-bats in the minors to get back up to speed in the wake of such an extended layoff. • Rehab assignment on tap
Manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Jimenez (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment next week, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Advice: Jimenez was initially given a one-month return timeline when he landed on the IL on May 22 with a left hamstring strain, but he appears to already be approaching a return to game action. It's unclear exactly when the 27-year-old will head to the minors or how long he'll remain there, but the White Sox will likely be eager to return him to their lineup as soon as possible given their offense's poor performance to start the year. • Set to run Thursday
Manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Benintendi (Achilles) will begin running Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Grifol also said that Benintendi will take batting practice Thursday in addition to running. The 29-year-old outfielder landed on the injured list Sunday due to left Achilles tendinitis, and how he feels after Thursday could help determine his chances of returning when eligible June 12. • White Sox outright Zach Remillard to Triple-A
White Sox sent INF Zach Remillard outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Remillard passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 30-year-old infielder will likely stick around as extra organizational depth back at Triple-A Charlotte rather than elect free agency. Rotoworld Today, 2:20 pm

    • Outrighted to Charlotte
Remillard cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Remillard has been DFA'd three times since the beginning of the calendar year, and he has passed through waivers unclaimed all three times. The 30-year-old infielder was slashing .242/.342/.333 through 15 games with the White Sox but has not had the same success in Triple-A, logging a .349 OPS in 79 plate appearances. • Christopher Morel in Thursday’s lineup vs. Reds
Christopher Morel (foot) is in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a positive sign that Morel is back in the lineup without missing any time after making an early exit from Wednesday’s contest against the White Sos after fouling a ball off his left foot. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of Chicago’s lineup supplying 11 homers and six steals through 61 contests. Rotoworld Today, 1:54 pm

    • Not starting Thursday
McCarthy isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Padres.

Advice: McCarthy was hit by two pitches during Wednesday's loss to the Giants, so the Diamondbacks will give him a recovery day during Thursday's series opener. Pavin Smith will fill in as Arizona's right fielder while batting sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:53 pm
