      Advice: Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied 4-4. He retired the first batter he faced but then served up the go-ahead homer to Cal Raleigh. Hader had turned in three consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run prior to Sunday, though he's now been charged with at least one run in six of his 15 appearances.     • MLB updates ruling Friday
      MLB changed the official scoring on a play during Friday's game, which left Houck charged with three earned runs over six-plus innings, not four, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    • Josh Hader yields go-ahead homer in ninth
      Josh Hader lost after giving up a go-ahead homer in a tie game Sunday against the Mariners.

      Advice: It’s the save situations in which Hader has struggled, but the loss today came after he was asked to preserve a tie. Cal Raleigh’s homer was the second surrendered by Hader in 14 2/3 innings this year.     • Out with elbow inflammation
      The Padres placed Musgrove on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right elbow inflammation.

      Advice: Musgrove was expected to start Tuesday against the Cubs but will now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. It's unclear when the injury surfaced for the right-hander, who struck out nine and allowed two runs over six innings his last time out versus the Cubs. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, there's hope Musgrove will be able to return from the injured list when first eligible May 17 in Atlanta.     • Joe Musgrove heads to IL with triceps tendinitis
      Padres placed RHP Joe Musgrove on the 15-day injured list with right triceps tendinitis.

      Advice: Musgrove was excellent in his start Wednesday against the Red with nine strikeouts and two runs allowed over six innings, but it appears not everything went well in that outing. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the move is “precautionary,” so it’s possible he will only miss a couple of starts before rejoining San Diego’s rotation.       Valdez (1-1) took the loss against Seattle on Saturday, allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Valdez turned in his worst start of the campaign, as the five runs and nine hits he allowed were both season-worst marks while he recorded a season-low three punchouts. The left-hander also gave up his first two homers of the year, with Cal Raleigh's two-run shot in the sixth inning resulting in the hurler getting the hook. Since being activated from the injured list April 27 following a near month-long absence due to an elbow injury, Valdez has surrendered seven runs on 14 hits across 10.1 frames over two starts.     • Takes third straight loss
      Detmers (3-3) took the loss against Cleveland on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Detmers entered the sixth inning with a quality start still in sight, as he had allowed three runs to that point. However, the left-hander got himself into trouble by walking three batters in the frame, and Bo Naylor made the hurler pay with a grand slam to blow the game open. The seven runs, three homers and four free passes were all season-worst marks for Detmers, who was tagged with his third consecutive loss. The 24-year-old looked to be on his way to a breakout campaign by posting a 1.19 ERA and 30:7 K:BB over 22.2 innings across his first four starts, but he's stumbled since, allowing 16 earned runs and recording a 14:7 K:BB over 17.2 frames in his past three outings.     • Framber Valdez hit hard in loss to Mariners
      Framber Valdez coughed up five runs over 5 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Valdez didn’t quite have as much success in his second outing back from the injured list as the division-rival Mariners tagged him for a pair of homers, which was more than enough run support for Logan Gilbert, who tossed eight shutout innings on the other side. The 30-year-old southpaw will carry a serviceable 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (four starts) into a road outing on Friday against the Tigers.     • Brilliant in no-decision
      Jones did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win against the Rockies. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings.

      Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander bounced back from a rather modest showing his last time out, matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. Jones got 17 swings and misses on 96 pitches and touched 100 mph with his heater a couple times. While he has a losing record at 2-3, Jones is off to a historically great start to his career. He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeouts and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts.
