    • Collects hit in return
Davis went 1-for-3 with a double Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Davis was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and hit eighth while starting behind the plate. He tallied a double in the seventh inning, only his fourth extra-base hit across 86 plate appearances this season. Davis should find his way into Pittsburgh's lineup regularly so long as Joey Bart (thumb) is sidelined, likely splitting reps at catcher with Yasmani Grandal. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:23 pm

    • Manny Machado goes 3-for-4, knocks in run
Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a steal versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Machado has collected hits in 12 of 13 games, and his batted ball numbers have started to creep up as well. There’s nothing so far to suggest he’s about to go on a tear, but things are looking up. He’s currently at .251/.315/.379 for the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:52 pm
    • Dazzles in win
Montas (3-4) allowed one hit and two walks while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Montas navigated Coors Field with ease in his best start of the year. This was his third scoreless outing, though one of those was shortened by a forearm injury versus the Angels on April 21. The right-hander had been struggling to rack up strikeouts prior to Tuesday -- his previous season high was seven. Montas is at a decent 4.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 42:20 K:BB over 54 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
    • Frankie Montas limits Rockies to one hit in win
Frankie Montas allowed only one hit over seven innings and struck out nine Tuesday in the Reds’ 4-1 defeat of the Rockies.

Advice: The seven innings and nine strikeouts were both season highs for Montas, who lowered his ERA from 4.60 to 4.00 in earning his first win since Apr. 3. A victory against the Rockies isn’t enough to warrant a mixed-league pickup, but it was encouraging to see Montas’s velocity up a bit tonight. He generated 20 missed swings on his 96 pitches. • Robbie Ray strikes out three in rehab appearance
Robbie Ray (elbow) threw a scoreless inning on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: Ray gave up a hit to Mariners top prospect Felnin Celesten, who is quickly emerging as one of the top fantasy prospects in baseball, but struck out the other three batters he faced in his first competitive inning since last year’s Tommy John surgery. The 32-year-old southpaw figures to be an option for San Francisco at some point around next month’s All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

    • Nick Castellanos delivers walk-off hit vs. Brewers
Nick Castellanos delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning on Tuesday, powering the Phillies to a 2-1 walk-off victory over the Brewers.

Advice: Castellanos snapped a 1-1 stalemate in extra-innings with a walk-off single to right field off Brewers reliever Joel Payamps. It was his lone hit in three at-bats, although he did draw a pair of walks in the extra-inning marathon. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm

    • Bailey Ober struggles in loss to Yankees
Bailey Ober gave up three runs over five innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Ober was tagged for just three hits over five frames, but a solo homer from Gleyber Torres and two-run double by Aaron Judge were enough to saddle him with a loss in a matchup against Yankees emerging start Luis Gil. He finished with a pair of strikeouts and also issued four walks. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60/16 K/BB ratio across 62 innings (12 starts) into a road matchup on Sunday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm

    • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) targeting midseason return
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) faced hitters last weekend in a simulated game at Dodger Stadium.

Advice: Kershaw is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation process from offseason shoulder surgery and appears likely to be ready for a midseason return to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix. The 36-year-old southpaw should be ready for a two-inning simulated game at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga at some point this week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:28 pm

    • Initial MRI encouraging
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Gasser (elbow) might miss some time but that the first MRI looked "pretty normal," Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The left-hander will receive a second opinion for the tightness and soreness in his elbow, but the initial imaging results are encouraging. Gasser still seems unlikely to avoid a stint on the injured list given it's an elbow issue, but the Brewers have yet to make an official roster move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:18 pm
