    • Blake Snell chased in second inning of rehab start
      Blake Snell (groin) struggled in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over just 1 2/3 innings.

      Advice: None of the five outs that the 31-year-old southpaw did record came via the strikeout. Snell threw 51 pitches in contest, 27 of those for strikes. The expectation was always that Snell would require at least two rehab starts before he was ready to return, and given his struggles on Sunday it’s likely that they’ll want to see better before they bring him back.     • Getting Tommy John surgery
      Gasser is scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery Monday in Dallas, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The Brewers previously disclosed Thursday that Gasser was headed for elbow surgery, but the team didn't immediately state what type of procedure the rookie left-hander was undergoing. However, after recently receiving a third opinion on the left flexor strain in his elbow from Dr. Keith Meister -- who will perform the operation Monday -- Gasser was recommended for Tommy John surgery rather than an internal brace procedure. Gasser will likely require anywhere from 12-to-18 months to make a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, meaning it's possible that he's not available to pitch at all during the 2025 season.       Gray (3-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two hits over six scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory over the Royals. He struck out three.

      Advice: Both hits were third-inning singles, but Gray shut down the rally and proceeded to retire the final 10 batters he faced before exiting. The right-hander tossed 72 pitches (51 strikes) en route to his sixth quality start of the season, but Saturday marked the first time he'd lasted at least six innings in a start since May 15.       Hicks (4-4) took the loss against the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout over four innings.

      Advice: Hicks surrendered a two-run home run to Paul Goldschmidt in the first and a three-run homer to Alec Burleson in the fourth before departing with a 5-4 deficit. The righty has completed only five frames in one of four June outings and has not logged a quality start since April 27.       Kershaw (shoulder) reported soreness during Saturday's bullpen session and could have his rehab outing scheduled for Tuesday pushed back, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Kershaw completed three innings in a rehab outing at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday and was expected to jump up to Triple-A Oklahoma City for Tuesday's outing. However, he may need more time between rehab appearances after feeling soreness in his shoulder during a bullpen session Saturday.     • Clayton Kershaw dealing with soreness in shoulder
      Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts told reporters on Saturday that Clayton Kershaw reported feeling soreness in his left shoulder following a bullpen session earlier in the day.

      Advice: It’s not unusual for a pitcher to feel some soreness as they’re getting stretched out after such a long layoff, but he’ll be monitored closely over the next few days.       Jon Gray threw six shutout innings and got the win in the Rangers’ 6-0 victory over the Royals on Saturday.

      Advice: Gray gave up two hits, walked none and struck out three. It was a necessary bounce back start for Gray after he allowed nine earned runs in his last start against the Mets. It was just his third win of the season and first since May 15th. He lowered his ERA to 3.03 on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road next weekend.     • Jordan Hicks coughs up two homers vs. Cardinals
      Jordan Hicks was lit up for five runs over four innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Hicks was hit extremely hard by his former organization on Saturday afternoon in his return to Busch Stadium as he surrendered six hits, including homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Alec Burleson, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He finished with only one strikeout and also handed out a trio of free passes. The only positive here is that he surpassed his previous career-high single-season mark of 77 2/3 innings, which he set back in 2018, in this one.       Senga (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Sunday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Senga has had no issues throwing bullpen sessions over the last several days, so he will now graduate to throwing 20 pitches against hitters at the Mets' complex in Florida. Assuming all goes well, the 31-year-old righty will likely throw another few live sessions before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment with one of the Mets' minor-league affiliates.
