    • Allows one run in no-decision
Civale did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over five innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.

Advice: Civale was pulled after having tossed a season-low 61 pitches over five effective innings, with the only blemish coming in the form of a Bryan Reynolds fourth-inning solo homer. It appears this was more of a managerial decision due to the heat and the Pirates having the top of the order coming up for a third time as opposed to any type of distress for Civale, who rebounded from his previous outing when he was chased after failing to complete four innings. Civale has struck out 79 in 76.1 innings this season and will carry a 5.42 ERA and 1.39 WHIP into his next start, currently slated to take place next weekend when the Rays welcome the Nationals to Tampa for a three-game set. • Getting Tommy John surgery
Gasser is scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery Monday in Dallas, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Brewers previously disclosed Thursday that Gasser was headed for elbow surgery, but the team didn't immediately state what type of procedure the rookie left-hander was undergoing. However, after recently receiving a third opinion on the left flexor strain in his elbow from Dr. Keith Meister -- who will perform the operation Monday -- Gasser was recommended for Tommy John surgery rather than an internal brace procedure. Gasser will likely require anywhere from 12-to-18 months to make a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, meaning it's possible that he's not available to pitch at all during the 2025 season. • Fans eight in no-decision
Parker did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Rockies on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Advice: All four runs against Parker came over the first three innings, topped off by a three-run blast from Brendan Rodgers. However, the right-hander would go on to finish strong, striking out the side in the sixth and fanning six of the final 12 batters he faced on the night. Parker matched his season high with eight strikeouts in the contest, and he's now gone at least six innings in three of his last four starts, posting a 15:5 K:BB over that stretch. • Blanks KC for third win
Gray (3-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two hits over six scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory over the Royals. He struck out three.

Advice: Both hits were third-inning singles, but Gray shut down the rally and proceeded to retire the final 10 batters he faced before exiting. The right-hander tossed 72 pitches (51 strikes) en route to his sixth quality start of the season, but Saturday marked the first time he'd lasted at least six innings in a start since May 15. Gray will take a 3.03 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 68:19 K:BB through 71.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:24 am

    • Mitchell Parker whiffs eight in no-decision
Mitchell Parker allowed four runs over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Rockies.

Advice: The positive news here is that Parker notched eight strikeouts and managed to somewhat survive Coors Field’s high-octane offensive environment. He gave up six hits, including a three-run homer to Brendan Rodgers, which accounted for most of the damage against him in this one. He’s been a nice waiver wire addition for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues and will bring a respectable 3.30 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 58/17 K/BB ratio across 73 2/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt on Friday against the Rays. • Notches quality start Saturday
Montas allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against Boston on Saturday.

Advice: Montas held the Red Sox scoreless through four frames before giving up one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. He still departed in line for the win but settled for a no-decision due to an eighth-inning Boston rally. Montas recorded his fifth quality start of the campaign and his third over his past five outings. He's registered a 4.48 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 53:27 K:BB through 66.1 innings on the season. • Allows three runs in 4.1 frames
Pivetta took a no-decision Saturday against Cincinnati, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings.

Advice: All three of the runs allowed by Pivetta came via the long ball -- Spencer Steer tagged him for a two-run homer in the first inning, and Elly De La Cruz launched a solo shot in the third. Pivetta didn't damage his ERA too dramatically, but he exited after 4.1 innings after racking up 96 pitches. It was the third time over his past six starts that he's failed to complete five frames, though the right-hander also has a pair of seven-inning quality starts during that span. • Hit hard early in loss
Hicks (4-4) took the loss against the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout over four innings.

Advice: Hicks surrendered a two-run home run to Paul Goldschmidt in the first and a three-run homer to Alec Burleson in the fourth before departing with a 5-4 deficit. The righty has completed only five frames in one of four June outings and has not logged a quality start since April 27. He owns a 3.24 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 69:31 K:BB over 80.2 innings and lines up to start against the Cubs next week. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:51 pm

    • Pivetta allows three in no-decision against Reds
Nick Pivetta allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Pivetta gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He was on the hook for the loss before a late comeback by the Red Sox offense. It was another pedestrian start from Pivetta that might be becoming a trend. In his first eight starts of the year, he had 51 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. In his last three starts, he’s had just 13 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home next weekend.
