    • Activated, will start Wednesday
The Brewers officially added Keuchel to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Just one day after he was acquired from the Mariners, Keuchel will join the big club and will make his 2024 MLB debut for the seventh different team of his career. The 36-year-old southpaw made 13 starts in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League with Triple-A Tacoma this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP but striking out just 15.6 percent of the batters he faced over 71 innings. Though Milwaukee will likely give Keuchel another start beyond Wednesday to stake a claim to a more permanent spot in the big-league rotation, his pitch-to-contact ways and lack of success in the majors in recent seasons make it difficult to rely on him as a streaming option in fantasy. • Joining rotation Wednesday
The Brewers plan to add Keuchel to the roster and have him start Wednesday's game against the Rangers at American Family Field, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Shortly after Keuchel was acquired from the Mariners on Tuesday, Brewers manager Pat Murphy indicated that the veteran southpaw wasn't viewed merely as organizational depth at the Triple-A level. Keuchel will thus be put to work right away with the big club, slotting in as the team's new No. 5 starter after Carlos F. Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. The Brewers will make an official roster move prior to Wednesday's 2:10 p.m. ET to activate Keuchel, a two-time All-Star who has seen big-league action with five different teams since leaving the Astros following the 2018 season. Keuchel owns an ugly 6.29 ERA over 260.1 big-league innings dating back to the start of the 2021 campaign, but he had been pitching effectively in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League over 13 starts at Triple-A Tacoma this season (3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP in 71 innings) prior to joining the Brewers. • Nearing rehab assignment
Senga (shoulder/triceps) said Tuesday he expects to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw a successful live batting practice session Sunday and is scheduled for another Thursday, which could be the final hurdle before he's cleared for minor-league games. Senga will need multiple rehab starts to build up his workload before making his season debut for the Mets, so he likely won't be activated from the 60-day injured list until after the All-Star break. • Brewers finalize trade for veteran Dallas Keuchel
Brewers acquired LHP Dallas Keuchel from the Mariners for cash considerations.

Advice: The trade is now official. Keuchel signed a minor league contract with the Mariners back in late May and will replace rookie Carlos Rodriguez in Milwaukee’s injury-ravaged starting rotation. The 36-year-old southpaw made 10 appearances (six starts) last year for the Twins and has pitched well this season in the minors with a solid 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 45/22 K/BB ratio across 71 innings (13 starts) in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. The lack of strikeout upside severely limits his fantasy appeal, but he’s going to get an extended run with the Brewers for now. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:26 pm
    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) nearing rehab assignment
Kodai Senga (shoulder) is aiming to kick off a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Senga is scheduled to face hitters on Thursday in a live batting practice session, which will likely determine whether he’s ready to head out on an extended rehab assignment. The 31-year-old righty is going to require several rehab outings to build up his strength and stamina before making his season debut at some point after the All-Star break. • Traded to Milwaukee
The Brewers acquired Keuchel from the Mariners on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Mark Feinsand of MLB.comreports.

Advice: The 36-year-old joined the Mariners on a minor-league contract in early April and pitched well at Triple-A Tacoma with a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB over 71 innings (13 starts). Milwaukee has dealt with numerous injuries to its rotation this season, and Keuchel will provide organizational depth for a depleted position group. He'll likely report to Triple-A Nashville but could quickly earn a call to the big leagues. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:31 pm
    • Another live BP on tap
Senga (shoulder/tricep) is scheduled to throw his next live batting practice session later this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: While facing hitters Sunday in Port St. Lucie, Fla. for the first time since early May, Senga tossed 22 pitches. He's scheduled to rejoin the Mets in New York this week, and assuming his arm responded well to Sunday's workout, he'll throw another live BP within the next few days. Senga was placed on the injured list coming out of spring training with a shoulder capsule strain and advanced to mound work in late April before having his throwing program shut down when he experienced tricep tightness and nerve inflammation. He's since resumed ramping back up but isn't expected to be ready to make his 2024 debut with the Mets until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:08 am

    • Picking up another start
Rodriguez is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: Rodriguez built up to four innings and 79 pitches over six rehab appearances with Triple-A Buffalo prior to coming off the 15-day injured list this past Friday, but he wasn't able to improve upon that workload in his return to the big club. He needed 52 pitches to record just four outs and took a loss to the Guardians while giving up five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks in his first start for Toronto since April 29. Rodriguez's abbreviated outing appears to be performance-related rather than the result of him incurring a setback with his spine, but the Blue Jays could still look to keep his workloads in check compared to their other starters in an effort to increase his effectiveness. Bowden Francis ended up piggybacking Rodriguez for 3.2 innings Friday and could be deployed in tandem with him again Wednesday, if Francis isn't needed in relief before then. • Casey Mize strikes out 10 in loss to Phillies
Casey Mize posted a season-high 10 strikeouts and was charged with four runs (three earned) over 4 1/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: The final line doesn’t totally reflect it, especially since he coughed up four runs in a calamitous opening frame, but there were a bunch of positive takeaways here for Mize in this outing as he generated an eye-popping 19 swinging strikes and didn’t hand out a free pass. Unfortunately, he needed a whopping 101 pitches (66 strikes) to work into the fifth inning. Despite all of the whiffs, he was tagged for a season-high nine hits, including a two-run homer by Alec Bohm in the opening frame. The surface stats remain a bit inflated, but the strikeouts are starting to show up for the 27-year-old former top prospect lately. He’ll bring an underwhelming 4.54 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 56/19 K/BB ratio across 73 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a favorable road matchup on Saturday against the Angels. Rotoworld Monday, 6:55 pm
