    • Slugs go-ahead homer in extras
Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.

Advice: The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer. The veteran power hitter now sports a .278 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 22 runs scored in 209 at-bats overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:07 pm

    • J.D. Martinez homers in 10th to propel Mets
J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the 10th and walked twice Monday as the Mets bested the Nationals 9-7.

Advice: This was a 3-3 game through nine, but Martinez broke the game open with his homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th. The Mets went on to score three more times in the frame, which proved important after the Nationals came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Martinez’s homer was his 10th in 239 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 pm

    • Yariel Rodríguez holds Astros to one run in loss
Yariel Rodríguez limited the Astros to one run and two hits over 6 2/3 innings in a tough loss Monday.

Advice: Apart from one bad curveball deposited into the stands by Jeremy Peña, Rodríguez was exceptional today, generating 13 missed swings and six strikeouts while needed just 83 pitches to get 20 outs. We’d still suggest shying away from Rodríguez in shallow leagues, especially in light of his workload concerns, but he could be a sleeper next year when he’s presumably under fewer restrictions. • Earns first quality start in loss
Rodriguez (0-3) took the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The 27-year-old rookie pocketed his first career quality start in his longest outing of the season. Rodriguez generated 13 whiffs out of his 83 pitches to produce six punchouts. The Toronto right-hander's ERA now stands at 4.63 across 23.1 innings with 23:13 K:BB. With this performance, Rodriguez is likely to draw another start over Bowden Francis. He currently lines up to make his next appearance against Seattle on the road this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:11 pm
    • Hunter Goodman sits for Rockies on Monday
Hunter Goodman is back on the bench Monday after making his first start in four games Sunday.

Advice: It’s like the Rockies stopped viewing Goodman as an option at first base and in right field after Elias Díaz got hurt last month and still haven’t changed that mindset, even though Díaz is back now. Goodman last started at a position other than catcher on June 10. Obviously, Jake Cave is just too good to sit. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:38 pm

    • Making rehab start Wednesday
Senga (shoulder/triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Senga is slated to throw about 40 pitches in his first game appearance since he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain back in February. The right-hander will require multiple rehab outings before returning from the 60-day injured list, but he should be able to make his first start for the Mets before the end of July if all goes well. • Kodai Senga (shoulder) set for rehab start
Kodai Senga, out since the beginning of the year with a shoulder injury, will make his first rehab start Wednesday with Single-A Brooklyn.

Advice: He’s due to throw 40 pitches his first time out. The Mets haven’t announced a plan beyond that, but if all goes well, four rehab starts and return to the Mets rotation during the final week of July would seem to be a possibility. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:56 pm

    • Playing time trending down
Goodman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: From June 15 through June 25, Goodman made nine starts at either catcher or designated hitter over a 10-game stretch and slashed .310/.333/.862 with five home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs. Despite his recent success, Goodman's avenue to regular playing time at either spot now appears to be blocked with the returns Elias Diaz and Charlie Blackmon from the injured list over the weekend. Goodman will take a seat for the fourth time in five games, and his starting opportunities could be largely limited to left-handed pitching moving forward now that the Rockies have regained health. • Drawing start Monday
Rodriguez is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Astros in Toronto, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: After returning from the 15-day injured list June 21 and giving up five runs (four earned) over 1.1 innings in a loss to Cleveland that day, Rodriguez made his next turn through the rotation this past Wednesday in Boston. However, with that game getting paused in the top of the second inning due to severe weather and later postponed, Rodriguez won't get credited with statistics for that game until the contest is resumed Aug. 26 as part of a split doubleheader. As a result, Monday's start against the Astros will officially be Rodriguez's second since he returned from the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:56 am
