    • Sitting against right-hander
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Soderstrom had started each of the previous six games against right-handers, but he'll begin Thursday's contest on the bench as the Athletics take on righty Ryan Feltner. Soderstrom sports a .689 OPS and 42.1 percent strikeout rate in 11 contests with the big club this season. J.D. Davis will cover first base Thursday in Soderstrom's stead. Soderstrom is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus Colorado.

Advice: Soderstrom started the previous three games but will sit Wednesday as lefty Austin Gomber pitches for the Rockies. J.D. Davis will handle first base and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:00 pm

    • Perez has two-hit night in win over Tigers
Salvador Perez went 2-for-5 with one RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Tigers.

Advice: The real story of the night was Bobby Witt Jr.'s two-homer, six RBI performance, but Perez also managed two hits, with his first coming on a single that scored Witt Jr. Perez now has 39 RBI on the season and has hit safely in seven straight games. He’s slashing .324/.387/.500 in May and has eight extra-base hits on the month. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:26 pm

    • Sparks rally Monday
Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: It was a close game until the sixth inning, when Perez ignited a six-run rally for the Royals with his solo shot. The catcher has hit safely in six straight games, going 10-for-21 (.476) in that span. the homer was his first since May 3. Perez remains one of the top hitters in baseball this season with a .341/.404/.565 slash line, nine long balls, 38 RBI, 19 runs scored and 11 doubles over 47 contests. • Perez blasts ninth home run Monday
Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Perez’ ninth of the season. It came in the sixth inning off Tigers reliever Joey Wentz. Perez is now 16-for-41 (.390) against left-handed pitchers this season. He’s hitting an incredible .341 overall. The 34-year-old is a career .269 hitter and has never even hit .300 in a single-season where he’s played at least 100 games.

    • Gets on base three times in win
Kirk went 1-for-1 with two walks, a double and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Advice: The 25-year-old has seen his playing time crater in May as the red-hot Danny Jansen has seized control of the starting job behind the plate for the Blue Jays, but Kirk's own offensive struggles haven't helped. Sunday's performance was his first multi-RBI game since Opening Day, and through five games in May he's batting just .214 (3-for-14). Rotowire.com Monday, 9:22 am

    • Perez drives in two on Saturday
Salvador Perez went 1-for-4 with two RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.

Advice: Perez had a two-run single in the first inning that opened the scoring. The 34-year-old backstop has been great this year as he’s hitting .333 with a .949 OPS. His walk percentage is nearly double what it usually is at 7.8 percent and his strikeout percentage of 15 percent would be his lowest since 2015. Still, we can’t expect Perez to keep up this average as his .368 BABIP is 77 points higher than his career .291 BABIP.

    • Three hits in win
Perez went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-2 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Perez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and got on base three more times in Friday's victory. The veteran catcher is batting .294 (15-for-51) with seven extra-base hits and eight RBI in May. That's actually down from his overall numbers -- Perez is slashing a stellar .335/.403/.557 with eight home runs, 34 RBI, 18 runs scored and 11 doubles over 176 plate appearances. He last hit above .300 for a full season in the abbreviated 2020 campaign, so there is a high risk that he cools off eventually in 2024, but he's been excellent over the first quarter of the season. • Out of starting lineup versus lefty
Soderstrom is not in the starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Royals.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Soderstrom will start from the bench as the Athletics take on lefty Cole Ragans. The 22-year-old has started in six of Oakland's last eight games, though J.D. Davis will take the field at first base Friday. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:38 pm
