    • Gerrit Cole officially starting on Wednesday
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Gerrit Cole will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Orioles

Advice: It always seemed likely that the Yankees would bring Cole back to face the Orioles, and we now know that will be the case. Cole has looked good during his rehab starts and was up to 70 pitches in his last outing, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go at least 80 pitches on Wednesday night if the results allow. This also means the end of Cody Poteet in the Yankees’ rotation for now. Rotoworld Monday, 12:25 pm

    • Set for season debut Wednesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Monday that Cole (elbow) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Cole has been lights-out on his rehab assignment, yielding one earned run with a 19:0 K:BB over 12.1 innings covering three starts. In his final rehab outing this past Friday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Cole struck out 10 while allowing just one unearned run across 4.1 frames. The right-hander has been out all season after being diagnosed in mid-March with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. Cole's workload will likely be curtailed initially after he had a high of 68 pitches on his rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:23 pm

    • Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Hendricks is listed as the Cubs' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Giants at Wrigley Field, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: As anticipated, Hendricks will return from a one-month stint in the bullpen to rejoin the rotation in the spot that had previously fallen to Jordan Wicks (oblique) and Ben Brown (neck), both of whom are now on the injured list. Hendricks won't be returning to a starting role with a bit of momentum; after giving up five earned runs over 5.2 innings between his first two relief outings, the veteran righty righted the ship and tossed 8.2 scoreless frames over his subsequent three appearances. Despite his solid form of late, Hendricks' numbers over a larger sample of seven starts earlier this season were worrisome (10.57 ERA, 1.99 WHIP, 9.3 K-BB% over 30.2 innings), so expectations should be tempered Wednesday. Barring a dramatic turnaround in his performance from earlier in the season, Hendricks will likely be headed to the bullpen once the Cubs get one of Wicks or Brown back from the IL. • Blanks Royals
Glasnow (7-5) picked up the win Sunday against Kansas City, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Glasnow was exceptional Sunday, striking out at least nine batters for a third straight start and completing his first scoreless start since April 21. He didn't allow an extra-base hit in the outing and got into the win column for the first time in seven starts. Glasnow leads MLB with 125 strikeouts across 93 innings, and his ERA dropped from 3.24 to 3.00 after Sunday's start. The 30-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Angels his next time out. • Ronel Blanco fires seven no-hit innings in victory
Ronel Blanco delivered a dazzling performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Tigers, firing seven innings of no-hit baseball.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler racked up eight strikeouts in the contest while issuing three free passes. He carried a bid for a perfect game into the fifth inning where he issued a two-out walk to Gio Urshela. He then walked Akil Baddoo and Carson Kelly to load the bases before getting Zack McKinstry to fly out to end the threat. Those would be the Tigers’ only base runners against him. Blanco got 15 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day — eight of those on his changeup — while registering an elite CSW of 41 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort as he totes a 7-2 record, 2.43 ERA and 0.97 WHIP into Sunday’s showdown against the Orioles. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:52 pm

    • Tyler Glasnow shuts down Royals, strikes out nine
Tyler Glasnow cruised against the Royals on Sunday, striking out nine over seven innings in the Dodgers’ 3-0 shutout.

Advice: Glasnow walked only one and needed just 85 pitches to get his 21 outs today. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak in which the Dodgers just couldn’t score runs for him. He’s 7-5 with a 3.00 ERA and a 125/25 K/BB in 93 innings for the year. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:46 pm

    • Could be back Wednesday
Cole (elbow) could be reinstated from the 60-day injured list to start Wednesday's game versus the Orioles at Yankee Stadium, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The Yankees have confirmed Nestor Cortes and Luis Gil as their starting pitchers for games Tuesday and Thursday versus Baltimore, but a starter has yet to be made for Wednesday while the club weighs whether to activate Cole for his season debut or to have him make another minor-league rehab start. While shifting his assignment from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Cole delivered a gem in his third rehab outing Friday, striking out 10 over 4.1 innings while allowing one unearned run on two hits and no walks. He tossed 70 pitches in the start, so Cole would likely have a slight cap on his workload if he were to rejoin the New York rotation Wednesday. If the Yankees decide to have Cole make one more start in the minors, Cody Poteet would likely get another turn through the big-league rotation. Rotowire.com Sunday, 3:16 pm

    • Hurls seven no-hit innings
Blanco (7-2) got the win Sunday vs the Tigers. He did not allow a run or a hit in seven innings while walking three and striking out eight.

Advice: Blanco flirted with his second no-hitter of the season, but his elevated pitch count forced him out of the game after seven frames, and the bullpen would give up a hit the next inning. The 30-year-old righty mowed through the Tigers lineup by registering eight strikeouts in another impressive showing. Blanco lowered his ERA to 2.43, and he became the eighth pitcher since 1900 to have multiple games of seven innings and zero hits allowed in single season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:44 pm

    • Gerrit Cole could start Wednesday against Orioles
Gerrit Cole (elbow) could make his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles.

Advice: The Yankees announced their rotation for the series against Baltimore. Kind of. Tuesday’s starter will be Nestor Cortes, and Thursday will be Luis Gil. Wednesday has a TBD by it, and it seems possible — if not probable — that it’ll be Cole returning to the rotation. The 2023 Cy Young winner has looked the part in his rehab starts, and while there could be some precautions taken, there’s every reason to believe he’ll be just as fantasy relevant over these three-plus months of 2024.
