    • Hits seventh homer
Soto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk during Friday's loss against the Brewers.

Advice: Soto went deep against Colin Rea in the first inning to put the Yankees ahead early, but he was unable to score the other two times he reached base Friday, as the Yankees fell short in extra innings. The 25-year-old outfielder has now homered twice in his last three contests and has driven in 23 RBI in just 27 games -- further proof that he is one of the most lethal hitters in the big leagues. • Hit hard in Friday's loss
Butto (0-1) took the loss Friday as the Mets fell 4-2 to the Cardinals, giving up four runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Homers by Alec Burleson in the second inning and Willson Contreras in the third accounted for all the damage off Butto, and were the first long balls he's served up this season. The right-hander tossed 94 pitches (56 strikes) before exiting, and while his 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 22 innings look sharp, he's walking a tightrope with his control and command -- Butto has issued at least three walks in three of his four starts, and he's hit a batter with a pitch in three straight. The 26-year-old will look for his first win of 2024 when he takes the mound next week at home against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 6:22 am

    • Goes deep in win
Carter went 2-for-3 with a home run during Friday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Carter took Graham Ashcraft deep in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1, and his fourth-inning single gave him his third multi-hit performance in his last five games. In that span, the 21-year-old outfielder is 6-for-18 with three homers and four RBI, though he has also struck out seven times. Rotowire.com Today, 6:21 am

    • Quality start in no-decision
Ashcraft allowed one earned run on seven hits and no walks while striking out three batters across 6.1 innings during Friday's loss against Texas. He didn't factor into the decision.

Advice: Ashcraft needed to bounce back nicely Friday after giving up five runs to the Angels in five innings during his last start. He managed to do just that, as his lone blemish came in the second inning via an Evan Carter solo home run. A lack of production from the Reds' offense forced Ashcraft to settle for a no-decision, and he will carry a 4.40 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into his next start -- currently projected to come Wednesday in San Diego. • Kyle Bradish strikes out six on Friday at Triple-A
Kyle Bradish (elbow) recorded six strikeouts and surrendered one run over five innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Bradish appears to be on the precipice of returning to Baltimore’s starting rotation after throwing 77 pitches (49 strikes) over five frames in his latest rehab outing. It’s worth noting that the fastball velocity hasn’t totally rebounded to last year’s levels, but he still managed to induce 13 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 32 percent CSW in this one. The 27-year-old righty has made a lightning-quick recovery from an offseason UCL sprain in his right elbow and should be rostered in all fantasy formats on the heels of last year’s breakthrough campaign. • Graham Ashcroft works into seventh in no-decision
Graham Ashcraft pitched 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Ashcraft allowed seven hits, but since he walked none, only the Evan Carter homer did damage. He has a 4.40 ERA after five starts, and he probably deserves better, what with his 26/7 K/BB and strong groundball rate. He’s a fringy mixed-league option, but he’s a big key as far as the Reds’ chances of contending this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
    • Punches out 10 in win
Nola (4-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over eight innings Friday, striking out 10 and earning a win over the Padres.

Advice: Nola was terrific Friday, posting his first double-digit strikeout game since July 4, 2023. He threw 74 of 106 pitches for strikes and forced 14 whiffs in the victory. The veteran righty had yielded just one run through six frames before Graham Pauley's two-run shot in the seventh inning. Since coughing up six earned runs in his season debut, Nola has posted a stifling 1.29 ERA with a 33:10 K:BB over his last five starts (35 innings). He'll carry a 3.23 ERA into his next appearance, which is projected to be on the road against the Angels next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm

    • Aaron Nola whiffs 10 in victory over Padres
Aaron Nola picked up 10 strikeouts over eight innings of three-run baseball to get a win over the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Nola scattered seven hits allowed with one walk. The only real damage was a two-run homer by Graham Pauley, and that was in the seventh inning with the Padres trailing 9-1. Nola has now gone eight innings in back-to-back starts, and he’s posted a strong 3.20 ERA through the first month of the season. The Angels are next for the right-hander. • Brice Turang steals 13th base in win over Yankees
Brice Turang went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in a win over the Yankees on Friday in 10 innings.

Advice: That steal is already the 13th of the season for Turang. The speedy infielder also singled twice to improve his average to .329 on the season with an .855 OPS to go along with it. This is obviously not sustainable, but it’s worth noting that Turang is a former first-round pick that was considered a top prospect not that long ago. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:29 pm
