    • Suffers first loss Wednesday
Wesneski (2-1) allowed three runs on seven hits across six innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Padres. He walked one and struck out three.

Advice: Wesneski pitched well enough, logging his second straight quality start in the process, but he got no run support in the 3-0 loss. The righty now has a strong 1.59 ERA overall, though it remains to be seen if he'll stick in the rotation moving forward. Justin Steele (hamstring) just returned from the injured list Monday, and Kyle Hendricks (back) could return in the near future, possibly as soon as May 17 following a rehab start over the weekend. For now, Wesneski is slated to start again Tuesday against Atlanta, but he may shift to a long-relief role after that. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:14 pm
    • Corey Seager sits for nightcap on Wednesday
Corey Seager is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup for the nightcap of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

Advice: The 30-year-old superstar shortstop went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout during the first game and is slashing an underwhelming .230/.303/.309 with three homers and 13 RBI on the season. Josh Smith will start in his place at shortstop and bat fifth for the Rangers on Wednesday evening against Osvaldo Bido and the A’s. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Taking seat for nightcap
Seager is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Athletics.

Advice: The 30-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the Game 1 loss, which ended a modest five-game hit streak. Josh Smith will shift to shortstop and Ezequiel Duran will start at third base while Seager receives some rest in the nightcap. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:22 pm

    • Solid again vs. Cleveland
Olson did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Guardians, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It was another excellent outing from Olson, though he was ultimately stuck with the no-decision despite allowing just one hit, as the Tigers' bullpen couldn't protect a 4-2 lead. Olson is 0-4 on the year despite holding opponents to one earned run or fewer in five of his seven starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.52 with a 1.12 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB across 39.1 innings. Olson will look for better luck in his next turn in the rotation, currently scheduled for early next week against Miami. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:20 pm

    • Hayden Wesneski completes six in loss to Padres
Hayden Wesneski surrendered three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Wesneski coughed up an early run, but managed to hang in there against Padres counterpart Dylan Cease, who simply out-dueled him during Wednesday afternoon’s showdown at historic Wrigley Field. He tallied three strikeouts and handed out only one free pass. The 26-year-old former pitching prospect has excelled of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in three straight starts since joining Chicago’s starting rotation back on April 28. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 17/4 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (five appearances, three starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the Braves. He’s still too risky to trust in shallow mixed leagues, but he’s done enough to merit consideration in deeper formats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:16 pm
    • Chris Bassitt pitches into seventh in victory
Chris Bassitt pitched 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball and struck out six Wednesday as the Blue Jays bested the Phillies 5-3.

Advice: The Jays wanted a little extra from Bassitt today with Yimi Garcia still unavailable and a tired bullpen after Tuesday’s 10-1 loss, and they got it, even though Bassitt didn’t get through seven as he would have liked. Bassitt struck out six and walked two. The win makes him 3-5 with a 5.06 ERA ahead of next week’s outing against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:10 pm

    • Strong effort vs. Phillies
Bassitt (3-5) earned the win Wednesday over the Phillies, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It was an impressive outing from Bassitt, as the right-hander limited a powerful Phillies offense to just three hits to snap a three-start losing streak. It's been an inconsistent start to the year for Bassitt though he seems to be rounding into form of late, delivering back-to-back quality starts. He lowered his ERA to 5.06 with a 1.55 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across his first 42.2 innings this year. Bassitt's currently lined up for a road matchup against the Orioles in his next outing early next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Reese Olson allows just one hit to Guardians
Reese Olson held the Guardians to two runs — one earned — and one hit over six innings on Wednesday.

Advice: Olson gave up six hard-hit balls, but five turned into groundouts and the other was a routine fly. The lone hit was a well-placed grounder from Austin Hedges that produced two runs after two walks and an error in the first. It’s Olson’s third straight strong outing, but he just can’t find his way into the win column. Left with a no-decision today after the bullpen blew a two-run lead, he’s 0-4 in spite of a 2.52 ERA. • Returns from IL
The Rays reinstated Bradley (pectoral) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Bradley is slated to make his season debut Friday against the Yankees at Tropicana Field, but the Rays opted to activate the right-hander two days early after rotation mate Ryan Pepiot (lower leg) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move. The 23-year-old showed no sign of being affected by the pectoral strain he suffered in spring training over the course of his two rehab starts with Triple-A Durham, as he struck out 15 while allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks across 11 innings. Bradley built up to 94 pitches in his second outing with Durham last Friday and shouldn't face any workload restrictions in his first start with Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:28 pm
