• Giants recall Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 24-year-old will come up to the majors and hopefully be an arm the Giants can rely on in the bullpen. The 24-year-old has impressed early on in Triple-A as he’s posted a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP with a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 10 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Giants option Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A
Giants optioned RHP Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Jefferies has appeared in two games (one start) for the Giants this season and has allowed nine earned runs in his 4 2/3 innings of work. Not good. The 28-year-old missed all of last season after he underwent Tommy John surgery and will hopefully get right down at Triple-A. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Athletics option Ryan Noda to Triple-A
Athletics optioned 1B Ryan Noda to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder will head back to the minors to continue his development as he got off to a brutal start this season. Noda has just 11 hits in his 100 plate appearances with the Athletics this season. He showed some promise last season with a .770 OPS but that’s dipped over 300 points to .440 in 2024. • Resumes running, hitting
Hays (calf) said that he's been able to engage in a running program the past few days and plans to hit Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Manager Brandon Hyde implied Monday that Hays had made limited progress in his recovery from a left calf strain, but the outfielder struck a much more optimistic tone when he talked about where he stood in his rehab program Thursday. Hays admitted he's unsure whether he'll need a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the 10-day injured list, as the Orioles could just allow him to get some competitive at-bats in during simulated games. Regardless, Hays likely won't be in store for an everyday role whenever he's activated, as rookie Colton Cowser appears to have established himself as Baltimore's top option in left field. • On track for season debut Friday
Grissom (hamstring/illness) is feeling much better and will travel with the Red Sox to Minnesota for their weekend series against the Twins, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Grissom has had his season debut delayed after he came down with an illness earlier this week. However, it sounds like he's feeling back or close to 100 percent and is in line to make his Red Sox and season debut Friday. Grissom -- who was acquired from Atlanta over the offseason in the Chris Sale trade -- is set to take over as Boston's primary second baseman. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

  • Sent back to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Minnesota will wait until shortly before Friday's series opener versus the Red Sox to announce a corresponding roster move, but Boushley will head back to Triple-A just one day after being called up. He didn't appear in long relief Wednesday in the Twins' 10-5 win over the White Sox. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
  • Joins big-league bullpen
The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Rodriguez, 24, earns the promotion after allowing just two runs with a 10:4 K:BB over 10.2 innings with Sacramento this season. He will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago
  • Sent to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Jefferies to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Jefferies was used in bulk relief in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Red Sox, allowing four runs over 2.2 innings as he took the loss. He'll rejoin Sacramento's rotation, and his spot on the Giants' 26-man active roster spot will go to right-hander Randy Rodriguez, who was called up from Triple-A. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
  • Takes loss as primary pitcher
Jefferies (0-2) took the loss against the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 2.2 innings.

Advice: Jefferies was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to make what was initially expected to be a spot start. The Giants instead opted to open the game with lefty Erik Miller on the mound before handing the ball to Jefferies to begin the second inning. Jefferies got out of his first frame unscathed but gave up two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to put himself in line for the loss. The 28-year-old has yielded nine earned runs across 4.2 innings over his two outings this season, and it's not clear if he'll get additional big-league opportunities (either as a traditional starter or primary pitcher) while Blake Snell (thigh) remains on the injured list.
