    • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) undergoes additional tests
Eduardo Rodriguez will undergo additional testing on his injured lat during the upcoming week.

Advice: The Diamondbacks are hopeful that if all goes well, he’ll be able to begin a throwing program. The team has already said that he’s unlikely to make his debut before June, and even the end of June seems optimistic with the way that this has played out so far. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:35 pm
    • Could resume throwing soon
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Rodriguez (shoulder) will undergo an MRI this week to check his recovery progress, after which he could be cleared to resume a throwing program, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: The left-hander was shut down from throwing in mid-April after he experienced renewed tightness in his shoulder, but Lovullo said the left-hander has recently been "feeling good." Rodriguez will require a lengthy build-up period before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment, so he's likely at least a month away from making his season debut. • X-rays return negative
Pepiot had X-rays come back negative and was diagnosed with a bruised lower left leg after exiting Sunday's start against the Mets, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury after being struck in the leg by a 107-mph comebacker, which prompted his exit during the third inning Sunday. Pepiot could remain on turn to pitch against the Yankees next weekend if he bounces back well from the injury over the next few days. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:20 pm

    • Ryan Pepiot day-to-day with left leg contusion
Ryan Pepiot is day-to-day after leaving Sunday’s start against the Mets with a left leg contusion.

Advice: Pepiot has already undergone imaging, and x-rays came back negative for the right-hander. He was struck in the leg by a pitch that was 107 mph, and while he attempted to stay in the game, Rays manager Kevin Cash wasn’t going to take any risks. There’s a good chance Pepiot could make his next scheduled start, but fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:04 pm

    • Departs Sunday's start
Pepiot was removed from Sunday's game against the Mets after being struck in the left leg by a comebacker, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: The right-hander was hit by a line drive that came off the bat at 107 mph, ending his day during the third inning. Pepiot finished with three runs allowed on three hits and a walk over two innings. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, leaving the 26-year-old's availability for his next turn through the rotation up in the air. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:51 am

    • Ryan Pepiot leaves Sunday after being hit in leg
Ryan Pepiot left Sunday’s start against the Mets with an apparent injury.

Advice: Pepiot took a liner off his leg on a ball that was hit 107 mph. The right-hander threw after and tried to stay in, but Rays manager Kevin Cash wouldn’t allow it. Pepiot will likely undergo imaging, and his status for his start next week should be updated shortly after. Manuel Rodriguez has taken over on the mound. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 am

    • Waiting on thumb
Scherzer (back) is still in a holding pattern while waiting for the soreness in his right thumb to subside, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Texas manager Bruce Bochy said the thumb improves every day, but Scherzer is not yet at the point where he can play catch. The right-hander threw 52 pitches in his first rehab start but experienced thumb soreness afterward. His following rehab start, originally scheduled for April 30, was pushed back. • Fans 10 in win
Glasnow (6-1) earned the win over Atlanta on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out 10.

Advice: Glasnow didn't allow a man to reach base over the first three frames before surrendering a leadoff single to Ronald Acuna, who would later come home to score on a single from Austin Riley, in the fourth. The right-hander responded by striking out seven of the next 11 batters he faced, and overall he racked up double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season. Glasnow has now won each of his last three starts, going at least six innings in each of those outings while posting a 29:4 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:48 am

    • Tosses eight scoreless frames
Gilbert (3-0) earned the win in Saturday's 5-0 victory over Houston, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out six batters over eight scoreless innings.

Advice: Gilbert tied a season-high mark with four walks, but that didn't hurt him since he gave up just a pair of hits (both singles). The right-hander notched his fifth straight quality start and lowered his season ERA to 1.69, fifth lowest among qualified MLB pitchers. Gilbert also ranks fifth among qualified starters with a 0.79 WHIP and has registered a 50:13 K:BB through 48 innings on the campaign. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:27 pm
