    • Eight Ks in no-decision
Pivetta came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander generated an impressive 32 called or swinging strikes among his 81 pitches, but both runs off Pivetta came on solo shots by Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena, with the latter chasing him from the game one out short of his second quality start of the season. Pivetta has served up five homers in two starts since coming off the IL, a worrisome trend, but he'll carry a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in St. Louis. • Dylan Cease fans eight in loss to Rockies
Dylan Cease surrendered three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: The third run came after he was pulled in the sixth. Cease struck out eight and gave up just four hard-hit balls, although one was a homer. It’s just the second time this season that he’s failed to complete six innings. Ideally, he would have done better than this with the matchup against a terrible offense at Petco Park, but there’s very little to be disappointed about here so far. • Goes deep again Tuesday
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Athletics.

Advice: Bregman entered the Oakland series with one homer on the year, but he's hit three long balls and added two doubles over his last two games. The third baseman has gone 10-for-24 (.417) during a six-game hitting streak, though he's still got a long way to go to get his season-long numbers at an acceptable level. Bregman is slashing .225/.293/.358 with four homers, 18 RBI, 12 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 39 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm
    • Brent Rooker drives in A’s lone run vs. Astros
Brent Rooker went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros.

Advice: It was an underwhelming night for Rooker and the A’s, as their offense was held to just one run on seven hits before eventually losing in the 10th inning. Rooker’s single in the eighth inning scored Abraham Toro to tie the game and eventually force extra innings, as Rooker has now hit safely in eight straight games. The veteran outfielder is slashing .435/.509/.848 this month and appears to have put his slow start to the season behind him. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:29 pm

    • Bregman homers in second-straight game vs. A’s
Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday’s win over the Athletics.

Advice: Bregman swatted his fourth homer of the season in the second inning to give the Astros an early 1-0 lead. Bregman has now homered in back-to-back nights and has hit safely in his last six games. He’s hitting .417 over that span and may finally be starting to turn the corner after getting off to a slow start to the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:25 pm
    • Nick Pivetta bounces back with solid effort vs TB
Nick Pivetta allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.

Advice: Pivetta struck out eight on the day while walking none, but he was doomed by two solo home runs. The right-hander got back on track after his rough return from the IL, posting a 29 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. His sweeper was particularly dominant, getting five whiffs on eight swings and posting a 47 percent CSW. Pivetta also threw his curveball 1.3 mph harder than usual and found some success with it, so that’s something to watch for future starts. He’ll take a 3.48 ERA into an appealing start against a reeling Cardinals offense this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:27 pm

    • Blake Snell to make rehab start Friday at Triple-A
Blake Snell (adductor) will make another minor league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Snell will require one additional tune-up prior to returning to San Francisco’s starting rotation at some point later next week. The 31-year-old southpaw has been on the shelf since late April due to a left adductor strain. He struck out seven batters last Sunday in a dominant rehab outing for Single-A San Jose. • Next rehab start Friday
Snell (thigh) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Snell fired four perfect innings while striking out seven batters during his first rehab outing at Single-A San Jose, though he'll be facing some tougher competition during his next start. Assuming everything goes smoothly, Friday is expected to be the 31-year-old's final game in the minors, putting him in line to return from the IL and start May 23 against the Pirates. • Absence continuing Tuesday
Turner (illness) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: The 39-year-old will sit for the third consecutive game as he continues to deal with an illness, which has also afflicted teammates Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer, though Kiermaier is back in the lineup Tuesday. Turner should continue to be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's series finale in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:27 pm
