    • Yusei Kikuchi struggles through three innings
Yusei Kikuchi was pulled after allowing five runs and eight hits in three innings Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Kikuchi’s velocity was down 1.5 mph on this fastball and about 2.5 mph on his secondary pitches today, and he failed to record a strikeout against the 17 batters he faced. It was easily his worst performance of the year. Hopefully, the velocity drop can be explained by an illness or something else minor. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm

    • Roughed up in no-decision
Kikuchi escaped Sunday's 14-11 loss to Detroit with a no-decision, yielding five earned runs on eight hits over just three innings. He did not record a walk or strikeout.

Advice: Kikuchi got roughed up in this one, surrendering four extra-base hits including a solo home run to Spencer Torkelson. The five earned runs are a season high for Kikuchi, who entered this game on a four-game streak allowing two runs or fewer. The 32-year-old still sports a solid 3.25 ERA after Sunday's outing, but more regression could be coming if his 0.74 HR/9 normalizes to his career average of 1.56. His is tentatively slated for a home start next weekend against the Pirates. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:17 pm

    • Hits go-ahead blast
Santander went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Santander put the Orioles ahead with the second of their three homers in the eighth inning. He's gone 3-for-15 with two homers and four RBI over his last four contests. The outfielder is up to a .205/.284/.432 slash line with nine long balls, 29 RBI, 25 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases through 197 plate appearances. Santander started three of the last four games in right field before resting his legs as the designated hitter Saturday, so it looks like he's moved past the bruised knee that bothered him earlier in the week. • Absence continues as expected
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Riley likely won't return to action until Monday versus Washington, so it's no surprise the third baseman will sit for the 13th straight game due to an intercostal strain. Zack Short will receive another start at the hot corner in the series finale at Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:44 am

    • Austin Riley (side) remains out of lineup Sunday
Austin Riley (side) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: That makes 13 straight games that Riley will miss due to his side soreness. The infielder will take a seat again with Zack Short drawing another start at the hot corner. Riley’s next chance to start will come Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:34 am

    • Homers again Saturday
Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: He touched up Walker Buehler in the first inning to give the Reds an early lead. As Mark Sheldon of MLB.com notes, Steer has now gone deep in back-to-back games after entering the series without a homer since May 1 (17 games). His struggles from the middle of the order this month have led the Reds to the cellar in the NL Central, though it's certainly not all his fault. Steer sits with a .227/.341/.403 line with six homers, 35 RBI, 25 runs scored and 11 steals through 50 games this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:50 am

    • Just shy of quality start
Taillon allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Taillon fell one out shy of a quality start, though he exited the game at 105 pitches (68 strikes) after giving up an RBI double to Masyn Winn in the sixth inning. This was an improvement on Taillon's last two starts -- he didn't complete five innings in either of those games. The right-hander is at a 2.58 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB through 38.1 innings over seven starts this season, but his 4.69 FIP and .238 BABIP suggest he's enjoyed good luck so far, especially earlier in the season. He's projected for a road start versus the Brewers in his next outing. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:20 pm
    • Jameson Taillon gives up three runs in no-decision
Jameson Taillon wasn’t at his best in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Saturday night, surrendering three runs on nine hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander punched out three batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. The Cardinals scratched out a pair of runs against him in the third inning, then added another on an RBI double by Masyn Winn as they chased him from the game in the sixth inning. Taillon got just three swings and misses on 105 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll tote a 2.58 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 25/11 K/BB ratio (38 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Thursday. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:17 pm
    • Spencer Steer homers again as Reds top Dodgers
Spencer Steer homered for the second consecutive game on Saturday, helping to power the Reds to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Dodgers.

Advice: Steer got the scoring started in the opening inning on Saturday, crushing a 362-foot (94.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Walker Buehler. That would wind up being his only hit in four at-bats on the night. On the season, the versatile 26-year-old is slashing .227/.341/.403 with six long balls and 35 RBI. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:57 pm
