    • Lasts seven innings in no-decision
Imanaga didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against San Diego, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Imanaga allowed more than five hits for the first time this season and tied his season worst earned run total but it was hardly a disappointing start for the first-year MLB'er, who's arguably been the best starter in baseball. He blanked the Padres through seven innings but allowed an infield single to Luis Arraez then a homer to Jurickson Profar in the eighth before being pulled. Imanaga has fanned seven or more batters in three straight starts and the Cubs are 7-0 when he's on the bump. The lefty is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Tuesday in Atlanta. • Imanaga dazzles, strikes out 8 in win over Padres
Shota Imanaga allowed two earned runs over seven innings while striking out eight in the Cubs’ 3-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Imanaga was stellar again on a night where the Cubs only provided him one run on offense. Unfortunately, a disastrous eighth inning, which he entered with 95 pitches already on the ledger, quickly went awry for the lefty, who gave up a single a two-run homer to Jurickson Profar in the frame to get saddled with the loss. Outside of the disastrous eighth, Imanaga didn’t run into too much trouble in this one, stranding only one runner in scoring position while limiting the Padres to only singles through his first seven innings. He still sits at a perfect 5-0 on the season, but will look to earn his sixth win on Monday against the Braves. Rotoworld Today, 7:22 pm

    • Iglesias earns ninth save in win over Red Sox
Raisel Iglesias earned his ninth save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Iglesias retired all three batters he faced to earn his ninth save of the season and help snap the Braves’ three-game skid. It was a much-needed win over a beatable team after the Braves dropped all three games on the road against the Dodgers, as Iglesias is now 9-for-11 in save opportunities on the season. • Sliding back to setup role
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Ginkel will go back to a setup role upon the return of Paul Sewald (oblique), Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Lovullo wants to throw Sewald back into the closer role immediately, saying that if a save opportunity should arise Tuesday, it would go to Sewald. Ginkel filled in admirably as the temporary closer, going 5-for-7 in save chances while posting a 2.57 ERA and 14:3 K:BB over 14 innings. Certainly, it's a major hit to his fantasy value as he shifts back to being a setup man. Rotowire.com Today, 1:49 pm
    • D-backs activate Paul Sewald for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated RHP Paul Sewald from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Sewald has been sidelined since the beginning of the regular season with a left oblique strain. The 33-year-old veteran, who finished with a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP with both the Mariners and Diamondbacks last season, will slide back as the D-backs’ closer which puts an end to Kevin Ginkel’s brief stint in the role. • Officially back from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Sewald (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander has been sidelined by an oblique strain but is ready to rejoin the team following three rehab appearances. Manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Sewald will immediately reclaim the closer role, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Kevin Ginkel -- who has tallied five saves with a 2.57 ERA in 14 appearances -- will return to a setup role. Rotowire.com Today, 12:39 pm
    • Works eighth inning
Duran struck out two batters in a scoreless eighth inning and earned a hold during Monday's win over Seattle.

Advice: Duran was called upon to face the Mariners' 9-1-2 hitters in a 3-1 contest. After earning a save in each of his first two appearances of 2024, he's picked up a hold in his last two games. Duran is the primary closing option in Minnesota but it appears there may be more of a committee than expected. Last season, he converted 27 of 32 saves and picked up only one hold. • Hurt by long ball in loss
Fried (2-1) took the loss Sunday against the Dodgers, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over seven innings.

Advice: Fried quickly surrendered a two-run homer to Shohei Ohtani in the opening frame. He was able to settle in thereafter, blanking the Dodgers over the next four innings before Teoscar Hernandez got a hold of one in the sixth to make it a 4-0 ballgame. Sunday was Fried's first outing this year giving up multiple home runs, but he's also gone at least six innings in three straight while striking out at least six in all three appearances. The 30-year-old owns a 4.23 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 32:14 K:BB in 38.1 innings thus far and lines up to face the Mets in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 am

    • Feels good after throwing
Sewald (oblique) said Sunday that he responded well to Saturday's inning of work in an extended spring training game, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports. "I haven't felt anything in 10 days now," Sewald said.

Advice: Following the encouraging news, Sewald plans to travel with the team to Cincinnati, where he could be activated for Tuesday's series opener against the Reds. He opened the season on the injured list and paused rehab is rehab after an appearance April 23. He downplayed the pause and was reticent to call it a setback; instead, Sewald chalked it up to panic and wanted a re-imaging to ease his mind. The reliever had never been on the injured list during his MLB career and didn't know what to expect. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:58 am
