    Romano experienced right elbow soreness after long tossing from 120 feet Friday and has been shut down from throwing, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

    Advice: Romano was slated to throw off the mound over the weekend, but he will now take a break while the team determines the next steps.     Jordan Romano has been shut down from throwing due to renewed right elbow soreness.

    Advice: Not good. Romano has been out since late May recovering from a right elbow issue and the fact that he’s still experiencing soreness isn’t good. The issue cropped up during a long-tossing session on Friday and the Blue Jays have shut him down for the moment to determine his next steps.     Abreu allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over Baltimore on Friday.

    Advice: Abreu worked around a two-out single to close out the chaotic 14-11 victory. It was his first save of the year and he extended his scoreless streak to 8.2 innings. After allowing six runs in 5.2 innings to begin his season, Abreu has yielded just five runs in his last 32 appearances, lowering his season ERA to 2.58.     Bryan Abreu protected a three-run lead against the Astros for his first save Friday.

    Advice: Josh Hader, Ryan Pressly and Abreu all worked the previous two days, but the youngest of the trio was the only one available tonight, apparently. Abreu got the job done and finally picked up his first save in the process. He leads the AL with 38 appearances this season, and his ERA is down to 2.58 after a rough start.   • Struggles in no-decision
    Irvin did not factor into the decision in a win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out two.

    Advice: Irvin had a hard time with the Yankees' lineup for much of the afternoon, allowing runs in three of the five innings in which he appeared before being relieved by Bryan Baker. Irvin surrendered two home runs in the contest, something he hadn't done in any of his previous 13 outings, while he also matched his season high with five runs allowed. Irvin had gone at least five innings in four consecutive starts prior to Thursday's game and will look to bounce back next week when the Orioles take on the Guardians in Baltimore.     Cole Irvin allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Orioles’ 17-5 victory over the Yankees on Thursday.

    Advice: Irvin gave up five hits, walked two and struck out two. He didn’t complete five innings and thus didn’t qualify for the win in the Orioles’ blowout victory, a brutal beat for fantasy managers. Irvin is having a solid year with a 3.45 ERA and six wins.     Advice: It's the second straight hitless appearance from Bednar after he allowed home runs in each of his previous two outings. Still, the right-hander has been solid of late following a rocky start to the campaign, allowing just three runs in his last 17.1 innings.     David Bednar hurled a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Reds to record his 16th save of the season.

    Advice: Bednar got the call to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to set down the heart of Cincinnati’s lineup. He got Elly De La Cruz to pop up and Spencer Steer to fly out before coaxing a game-ending fly out from Jake Fraley to slam the door.
