• Back-to-back blown saves
Beeks allowed a run on two hits and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning to take a blown save versus the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Beeks gave up a game-tying solo home run to Daz Cameron in the ninth inning. This was Beeks' second straight blown save, and it appears his high-wire act of allowing multiple baserunners in five straight contests is starting to come back to haunt him. On the year, Beeks has a 2.74 ERA, but a 1.35 WHIP and a 17:12 K:BB through 23 innings suggest he's been lucky to attain that level of run prevention. He's held the closer job for the Rockies for much of May, but that could come to an end if he doesn't right the ship quickly. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:36 pm

  • Jalen Beeks blows another save Thursday
Jalen Beeks blew his second save in as many days against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Beeks started the ninth inning with a one-run lead and immediately gave it up by allowing a home run to Athletics outfield Daz Cameron. He’s now converted just four of his seven opportunities for saves. The 30-year-old left-hander’s grip on the closer role in Colorado seems tenuous at best. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:02 pm

  • Rebounds for 14th save
Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out a pair in 1.1 innings.

Advice: Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:46 pm
  • Adolis Garcia hits solo homer in loss to Phillies
Adolis Garcia hit a solo homer in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep a dozen times thus far in 2024 while driving in 36 runs over Texas’s first 51 games. He also drew a walk, and he’s now slashing .253/.300/.500. Garcia is a flawed player, but the power-production is going to make him relevant for a long time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:20 pm

  • Tosses quality start for fourth win
King (4-4) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander delivered his fifth quality start of the year, and his third in four May outings, on 92 pitches (62 strikes). King has had trouble maintaining consistency as he adjusts to being a full-time starting pitcher, but his 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 25 innings this month is encouraging. He'll look to put together another solid start in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Marlins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 am

  • Blows save chance
Beeks allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk to blow the save Wednesday against the Athletics.

Advice: Beeks was tasked with protecting a one-run lead and retired two of the first three batters he faced. However, he went on to allow the next two hitters to reach base, blowing his first save since taking over as the Rockies' closer. Beeks has allowed only two earned runs in seven innings since stepping into ninth-inning duties, but his 1.57 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB in that span are likely more indicative of his future results. • Jalen Beeks blows save in Oakland
Jalen Beeks allowed one run in the ninth inning to blow the save chance against the Athletics.

Advice: Beeks was summoned to close out the game with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. A single and a walk put a runner in scoring position with two outs before Zack Gelof knocked a base hit to drive in the game-tying run. Beeks was able to keep the game tied to send it to extras. The 30-year-old left-hander is now 4-for-6 in save chances with a 2.42 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 16/12 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:53 pm

  • Career day against Milwaukee
Luzardo (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts across eight scoreless innings against the Brewers.

Advice: Luzardo completed eight innings for the first time in his career, blanking Milwaukee in dominant fashion. All three hits allowed were singles and he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start. The southpaw retired 17 consecutive batters during the start, spanning the second to the eighth inning. He's been excellent in three starts since coming off the IL, owning a 0.92 ERA and a 19:1 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Tuesday against the Padres. • Earns win in second complete game
Fried (4-2) earned the win over the Cubs on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in a complete game. He struck out nine.

Advice: Fried dominated the Cubs' lineup in his second complete game of the season, retiring the first 15 batters he faced before surrendering a leadoff double to Ian Happ to open the bottom of the sixth. The lefty produced 18 whiffs in the contest and finished with a season-high nine strikeouts, while also not issuing any walks for first time in his last five starts. He's now gone at least seven innings in three of his last four outings, posting a 23:9 K:BB over that stretch. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:00 pm
