• Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that Contreras (forearm) is likely to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with either Triple-A Memphis or Double-A Springfield, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Contreras reached a meaningful milestone in his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured left forearm by taking batting practice earlier in the weekend, and with the veteran backstop apparently coming out of the workout without any renewed soreness, he looks like he's ready for game action. Because he's been on the shelf since May 8, Contreras could stay on his minor-league rehab assignment throughout the week before potentially returning from the 10-day injured list before the end of June. Once Contreras is activated, he should reclaim the No. 1 catcher's role from Ivan Herrera. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am

  • Jose Caballero scratched due to calf tightness
Jose Caballero was scratched from Sunday’s lineup against Atlanta with calf tightness.

Advice: Caballero was out of the lineup for the last two days with illness, but the shortstop will miss a third straight game due to the calf injury. He is reportedly available off the bench, so consider him day-to-day. Amed Rosario gets the start at shortstop in his absence, as Taylor Walls is unavailable due to illness. • Scratched with tight calf
Caballero was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta with left calf tightness, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Amed Rosario was a late addition to the lineup as a replacement for Caballero and will hit ninth and start at shortstop. Caballero has served as the Rays' primary shortstop for most of the season, but he had moved into more of a utility infield role of late following Taylor Walls' return from the injured list June 7. • Contreras (forearm) likely to begin rehab Tuesday
Willson Contreras (forearm) is likely going to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Advice: Contreras has made a rapid recovery from surgery to repair his fractured forearm, and what looked to be an injury that would keep him out through the All-Star break now appears to be one where he could be back as the Cardinals backstop in the next week. Keep in mind that setbacks do happen, but all signs point to the 32-year-old being a regular for the Cardinals much sooner than anticipated. Rotoworld Today, 9:05 am

  • Jose Caballero (illness) back in lineup Sunday
Jose Caballero (illness) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Caballero was removed from Friday’s game due to illness, and didn’t play Saturday. The 27-year-old is feeling well enough to go against Atlanta on Sunday, and he’ll hit ninth and play shortstop against Hurston Waldrep and the ATL pitching staff. Rotoworld Today, 8:11 am

  • Swipes 18th bag
Rengifo went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 victory versus San Francisco.

Advice: Rengifo doubled in the first inning but was left stranded at third. In the seventh, he produced the game-winning run on a two-out RBI single that he followed with a stolen base. After swiping just six bases in 126 games last year, Rengifo has taken off with 18 thefts through 54 contests this season. That alone has given him ample fantasy value, and he's boosted his stock with a .315/.360/.437 slash line while adding four homers, 20 RBI and 26 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

  • Returns to lineup
Caballero (illness) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: After leaving Friday's game due to illness and sitting Saturday, Caballero will return to face rookie right-hander Hurston Waldrep. Taylor Walls has eaten into Caballero's time at shortstop since returning from the injured list, but Caballero is still seeing fairly regular time around the infield for Tampa Bay. • Nine-game hitting streak
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a walk Saturday against Atlanta.

Advice: Diaz extended his hitting streak to nine games with the performance, during which he's collected multiple hits on five occasions. He's hitting .359 in that span, though his production has otherwise been empty as he has zero extra-base hits, one RBI and three runs scored. Diaz has managed only a .094 ISO across 309 plate appearances for the campaign, so his lack of power has not been a short-term issue. Rotowire.com Today, 6:55 am

  • Remains hot in loss
Candelario went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Candelario had two of Cincinnati's five hits, including a ninth-inning double that plated the club's lone run. The once-struggling infielder is having himself a June, going 20-for-56 (.357) with six home runs, four doubles and 14 RBI through 13 games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:00 am
