  • Needs one more rehab start
    Senga (shoulder/triceps) is expected to make another rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

    Advice: After building up to 4.2 innings and 67 pitches in his most recent rehab outing with Syracuse this past Sunday, Senga looked like he might have had a chance at making his next start with the big club, but the Mets will instead send him out for one more tune-up appearance in the minors. Assuming Senga is able to build on his pitch count and experiences no setbacks during his upcoming minor-league outing, he could return from the 60-day injured list to make his 2024 Mets debut during the club's home series with Atlanta that begins July 25. Senga was placed on the IL coming out of spring training with a strained right shoulder, then battled triceps inflammation during the rehab process that ended up setting him back further.   • Let down by defense in blown save
    Holmes (1-4) blew a save and was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

    Advice: In a roller-coaster ninth inning, New York scored three runs in the top of the frame to take a 5-3 lead. Holmes entered to try to close things out in the bottom of the inning but couldn't get the job done, giving up three runs, the final two of which came on a Cedric Mullins walk-off double. Though he didn't pitch particularly well, it would be unfair to pin the blame entirely on Holmes for the dramatic defeat, as a two-out error by Anthony Volpe allowed a run to score and kept the frame alive for Mullins' double, which had an xBA of .150, per Statcast -- Alex Verdugo took a terrible route to the ball and pinned the blame on himself for the result after the game, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. It was nonetheless a poor end to the first half of the campaign for Holmes, who has blown two of his past four save chances while giving up five runs (two earned) across four frames during that span.   • Strong finish to first half
    Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs in a win over the Phillies on Sunday. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt.

    Advice: The rookie's productive line looks deceptively tame next to those of some of his teammates, considering three Athletics players slugged multiple home runs and Zack Gelof belted a grand slam. However, Schuemann was a very effective table-setting presence out of the bottom of the order, crossing the plate on each of Lawrence Butler's trio of homers. The All-Star break arguably comes at an inopportune time for Schuemann, who heads into the pause in play hitting .357 (10-for-28) over his last eight games while mustering a trio of multi-hit efforts in that span.     Lindor went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

    Advice: The veteran shortstop heads into the All-Star break on a tear. Lindor got on base 10 times in 15 plate appearances during the three-game series against Colorado, and over his last 25 contests he's slashing .314/.397/.549 with nine doubles, five homers, seven steals, 18 RBI and 20 runs.     Singer was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three.

    Advice: Singer couldn't put things together Sunday, allowing separate two-run homers in each of the first and second innings, then loading the bases in the third prior to being pulled. It was the shortest outing of the season for Singer, who entered the contest having allowed only one earned run during each of his previous four starts. He enters the All-Star break ranked 10th in the majors with a 3.20 ERA to go along with a 1.23 WHIP and 99 strikeouts over 19 starts spanning 104 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:20 pm

    Duran (5-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

    Advice: Duran gave up a triple to Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, and it turned into a run after Brooks Lee's relay throw ended up in the dugout. It's a tough way for Duran to take a loss, which also ended his 7.2-inning scoreless streak, but it won't hurt his ERA, which remains at 2.93 to go with a 0.98 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings. Since Duran was pitching in a tied game before giving up the run, he also will avoid taking his second blown save of the year, and his status as the Twins' primary closer is not in question.   • Looks sharp in latest rehab outing
    Senga (shoulder) struck out three while allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse.

    Advice: Senga tossed 67 pitches (41 strikes) in his third rehab outing, and he's now compiled an 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 10 innings between Syracuse and High-A Brooklyn. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has said that club officials will determine the next steps for Senga over the All-Star break. Based on how he's fared during his rehab assignment, Senga looks ready to return from the 60-day injured list, but the Mets may still want him to build up to the 75-to-80 pitch range in another rehab start before he rejoins the big-league rotation.   • Jhoan Duran takes loss on error in ninth
    Jhoan Duran took a loss after giving up a triple to the only batter he faced Sunday against the ninth.

    Advice: Opening the bottom of the ninth in a tie game, Duran gave up a well-placed 88.8 mph flyball to the right-center gap.   • Picks up sixth win
    Walker (6-3) retired both batters he faced and earned the win Sunday over the Twins.

    Advice: Walker was called on for damage control after Camilo Doval blew a save chance. Walker got Willi Castro to ground out and Brooks Lee to fly out, keeping the game tied at 2-2 before Mike Yastrzemski tripled and scored on an error to win it for the Giants. Aside from a three-run stumble versus the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Walker continues to be quite steady in a high-leverage role. He's at a 2.32 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 62:10 K:BB through 50.1 innings while adding 17 holds and two blown saves this season. While reliever wins can be tricky to project, Walker's steady ratios, high strikeout rate and setup duties make him a reliable option for fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:52 pm
