• Returned to Triple-A
The Giants returned Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Fitzgerald served as the Giants' 27th man for Thursday's game at Rickwood Field, and he'll now head back to the minors without logging a plate appearance. The 26-year-old has slashed .346/.448/.808 in 13 Triple-A games and would be the favorite to return to San Francisco if the Giants run into problems with their infield depth. • Perfect night at plate Friday
Bliss went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple in an extra-inning loss to the Marlins on Friday. He also was caught stealing on his only attempt.

Advice: The rookie had his best night in the majors yet, posting his first multi-hit effort and triple at the big-league level. Bliss was also caught stealing for the first time in five attempts, but his breakout effort gave his batting average and OPS respective 59- and 145-point boosts to .238 and .700. • Ryan Bliss goes 3-for-3 versus Marlins
Ryan Bliss had half of the Mariners’ hits Friday, finishing 3-for-3 with an RBI against the Marlins.

Advice: Bliss’s .238/.319/.381 line through 49 plate appearances isn’t particularly remarkable, but that’s actually an above average OPS+ for a Seattle hitter in 2024. He’s going to have a case for sticking around after Jorge Polanco returns, which could happen this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:56 pm

  • Making first start Friday
Martinez will start at second base and bat eighth in Friday's game versus the Guardians.

Advice: It will be the first major-league start for Martinez, who was on the bench for two straight contests following his promotion. The 22-year-old is one of the better power-hitting prospects in baseball, but he does struggle to make contact and isn't regarded as a great defender. Getting him playing time does not appear to be a priority for the Blue Jays during this stint, but he will have a chance to show what he can do Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:41 pm

  • Orelvis Martinez set for big league debut Friday
Orelvis Martinez will make his major league debut on Friday night against the Guardians.

Advice: The 22-year-old top prospect was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, but didn’t see any game action during his first two days with the Jays. He’ll start at second base on Friday night and will bat eighth against Guardians’ right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Martinez had been hitting .260/.343/.523 with 16 homers and 46 RBI over 63 games at Triple-A Buffalo prior to his promotion. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:27 pm

  • David Hamilton not in Red Sox’ lineup on Friday
David Hamilton is not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: The 26-year-old speedster has been battling discomfort in his left side, so it’s possible that they’re just easing him back into action. Or if could be that the Red Sox are facing a left-handed starter in Andrew Abbott. Either way, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him pinch-run and still swipe a bag or two on Friday night before all is said and done. Romy Gonzalez will start in his place at shortstop and bat second for the Red Sox on Friday evening. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:14 pm

  • On bench against left-hander
Hamilton is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: The left-handed hitting Hamilton has been an everyday guy lately for the Red Sox, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Reds send southpaw Andrew Abbott to the bump. Hamilton has also dealt with a side issue this week, so the team could be exercising caution here. Romy Gonzalez will handle shortstop Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:33 pm

  • Continues power surge Thursday
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games. • Productive night in loss
Moore went 1-for-3 with with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in a loss to the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Moore got the Mariners' night started on the right foot with his first-inning 429-foot shot to left field. The round tripper was Moore's second in the last three games, following a 21-game homer drought. Moore has been particularly active on the basepaths of late, recording four steals in his last five contests to push his season total to 13. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:05 am
