• Resting Wednesday
Santana is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Santana will take a seat for the series finale in Washington, ending a stretch of 12 consecutive starts during which he's run hot at the plate with a .283/.298/.522 slash line. Alex Kirilloff will fill in for Santana at first base. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago
  • Escapes with no-decision Tuesday
Gasser came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins, coughing up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over six innings. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.

Advice: The rookie southpaw had a respectable 24 called or swinging strikes on his 80 pitches, but Gasser mostly pitched to contact and watched a number of grounders make it past the Brewers' infield defenders. He left the game in line for his first loss in the majors, but Milwaukee rallied in the eighth inning. Gasser will take a 2.65 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB through 17 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come this weekend in Boston. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago
  • Expected to be recalled
The White Sox will recall DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte prior to Wednesday's game in Toronto, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: He could be taking the roster spot currently occupied by Eloy Jimenez, who injured his hamstring in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jays and might be headed to the injured list. DeLoach, 25, was acquired from the Mariners over the offseason and has slashed .269/.361/.351 with two home runs and eight stolen bases over 37 games this season with Charlotte. He can play all three outfield spots and will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago
  • Resuming rehab assignment
Chargois (neck) has been sent to Triple-A Jacksonville to resume his rehab assignment.

Advice: Chargois made three rehab appearances for Jacksonville last month before suffering a setback with his neck injury. He's cleared the necessary hurdles to return to game action and will be eligible for activation next week, although the reliever could need more time than that. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Side session on tap
Manager A.J. Hinch said that Maeda (illness) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday or Thursday before the Tigers determine the right-hander's next steps, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Placed on the 15-day injured list May 11 while he battled a viral illness, Maeda appears to be close to a return after he was able to complete a three-inning rehab start with Triple-A Toledo this past Sunday. The Tigers have already decided on their starting pitchers through Friday, but if Maeda comes out of his side session no worse for the wear, he could be an option to take the hill Saturday versus the Blue Jays if Detroit wants to give Reese Olson (hip) some extra time off to recover from an injury. If the Tigers are confident in Olson's health heading into the weekend, however, Maeda could be sent out to Toledo for a second rehab start to build up his pitch count. • Impressive in non-save situation
Kopech struck out the side without allowing a baserunner Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Kopech entered the game in the ninth inning and was tasked with protecting a five-run lead. He needed only 15 pitches to end the game, and he racked up seven called strikes without generating a whiff. After a shaky start to the season, Kopech now has six consecutive scoreless appearances, maintaining an 8:5 K:BB across 6.1 frames in that span. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Starting rehab assignment
Hoeing (hamstring) has been sent to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: Hoeing has been out since early May with a strained left hamstring but is ready to test things out in a game environment. Since he hasn't missed much time, his rehab assignment figures to be brief. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Trevor Megill rebounds with save Tuesday vs. Fish
Trevor Megill fired a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Marlins to record his seventh save of the season.

Advice: Megill got the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 14 pitches (11 strikes) to slam the door. It was a much-needed bounce-back after suffering his first blown save of the season during Monday’s series opener at loan Depot park. The 30-year-old righty has converted seven of his eight save chances so far filling in for an injured Devin Williams. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
  • Robert Gasser fails to record strikeout vs. Fish
Robert Gasser was charged with five runs (four earned) over six innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: On the heels of a pair of impressive outings to open his big-league career, Gasser turned in one of the more bizarre pitching lines of the season as he managed to allow five runs, despite not allowing a home run or walking a batter. He also didn’t record a strikeout. Weird. We’re not totally sure what to make of it, but we’d bank on the strikeouts coming back when he squares off against the Cubs on Monday in his next outing.
