    • Eight Ks in no-decision
Pivetta came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander generated an impressive 32 called or swinging strikes among his 81 pitches, but both runs off Pivetta came on solo shots by Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena, with the latter chasing him from the game one out short of his second quality start of the season. Pivetta has served up five homers in two starts since coming off the IL, a worrisome trend, but he'll carry a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in St. Louis. • Launches first homer of 2024
Lowe went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder connected on his first long ball of 2024 when he took Nick Pivetta deep in the first inning. Lowe is quickly making up for lost time after missing the first month-plus of the season due to an oblique strain, and in seven games since being activated from the IL he's batting .320 (8-for-25) with four doubles and a homer. • Fans six in no-decision
Civale came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Red Sox, giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander kept Boston off the board his first time through the order, but a two-run double by Dominic Smith in the fourth inning and a solo shot by Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth sent Civale packing after 76 pitches (53 strikes). He's failed to last more than five innings in any of his last five starts, a stretch in which he's stumbled to an 8.87 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, and his rotation spot could be in jeopardy if he doesn't turn things around by the time Ryan Pepiot (leg) and Shane Baz (elbow) are ready to rejoin the team. Civale lines up to make his next start on the road this weekend in Toronto. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago
    • Swipes first two bags of season
Ortega went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and two stolen bases in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

Advice: Getting the start in center field and batting seventh against southpaw Mitchell Parker, Ortega swiped second base both times he got on board. The hit and the steals were the first of the season for the 33-year-old, and the last two starts for the lefty-swinging Ortega have curiously come against left-handed pitching, as he filled in for Gavin Sheets on Tuesday and Andrew Benintendi on Sunday. With Luis Robert (hip) close to beginning a rehab assignment though, Ortega's time on the big-league roster is likely drawing to a close. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
    • Powers offense in nightcap Tuesday
Vaughn went 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in a 4-0 win over the Nationals during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Advice: After looking shaky in the matinee by going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, Vaughn's bat roared to life in the nightcap as he crushed a three-run homer off Mitchell Parker in the third inning before adding a solo shot off Jackson Rutledge in the eighth. All three of Vaughn's long balls on the season have come in the last five games, and over his last seven contests the 26-year-old first baseman has gone 9-for-26 (.346) with three doubles and six RBI. • Slugs fifth homer
Jimenez went 3-for-7 with a walk, a double and a solo home run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split with the Nationals.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger took Trevor Williams deep in the second inning of the matinee, the first homer the Washington right-hander has served up in 2024. Jimenez could be heating up after a quiet start to the season -- over the last seven games, he's gone 7-for-27 (.259) with three doubles and a homer. Tuesday's RBI was his first since May 5 though, and through 30 contests he's slashing just .221/.276/.389 with five home runs and 12 RBI. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago
    • Goes yard again
Seaver went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Seager took advantage of the Globe Life Field roof being open, swatting a solo home run off Ben Lively in the third inning. The shortstop has hit three home runs in his last eight games and is batting .267 with six RBI and an 11.4 percent K rate during that stretch. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

    • Brilliant in revenge game
Fedde (4-0) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Advice: Facing the team he spent the first six seasons of his MLB career with before pitching in the KBO in 2023, Fedde showed the Nats what they were missing, tossing 60 of 99 pitches for strikes as he delivered a second straight scoreless effort and his fourth quality start of the year. The 31-year-old right-hander will take a 2.60 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 50:14 K:BB through 52 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come early next week in Toronto. • Snaps out of funk
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Garcia entered Tuesday's game batting .154 in May but delivered his first homer since Apr. 28 and his first multi-hit game since Apr. 21. Even with the cold spell, Garcia is slashing .247/.297/.449 across 175 plate appearances with a .202 ISO, which aren't too far off his 2022 and 2023 numbers. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago
