      Bryson Stott, who didn’t start Monday, went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Giants on Tuesday.

      Advice: Stott has run extremely hot and cold this season, posting a .559 OPS over his first 25 games and a 1.242 OPS over his subsequent 18 games. Now he’s back in another drought, having gone 2-for-28 in his last eight games. The good news is that he’s struck out just three times during that span.       Gorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: Gorman has four homers, two steals, eight RBI and eight runs scored over his last nine games, batting .321 (9-for-28) in that span. It's a good run of consistency at the plate for the infielder, who has struggled to put it all together at times this season. He's at a .214/.306/.428 slash line with nine long balls, 23 RBI, 21 runs scored and two steals through 47 contests overall while holding down a starting role at second base.       Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: Arenado went 11 games without a homer prior to Tuesday. In that span, he hit a paltry .222 (10-for-45). The third baseman took Andrew Abbott deep in the fourth inning to give the Cardinals all the offense they needed in the win. Arenado is still having a rough year overall with four homers, 25 RBI, 21 runs scored, 10 doubles and a .257/.311/.366 slash line over 52 contests.       Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 and hit a homer that accounted for both Astros runs Tuesday in the loss to the Mariners.

      José Abreu went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: We’d understand the Astros giving Abreu one more shot at Jon Singleton’s expense, and we’d understand setting up a platoon that sees Singleton play versus righties and Abreu against lefties. What we can’t understand is playing both guys, when it means putting both Chas McCormick and Mauricio Dubón on the bench and taking a defensive downgrade with Yordan Alvarez in left field (and increasing the injury risk for Alvarez). Still, that’s exactly what the Astros have done in both games since Abreu returned from exile. It’s a bad strategy, and the team has paid the price the last two days.       Advice: Rengifo did a good job of getting on base, and he was able to score after his singles in the first and eighth innings. The infielder has been locked in since returning from an illness May 17, going 15-for-42 (.357) over his last 10 contests. Manzardo may be running out of time to make an impression, as the Guardians will need to make a corresponding move to activate Steven Kwan (hamstring) from the injured list later in the week.       Advice: Fry has a pair of three-hits games over his last nine contests, going 13-for-26 (.500) with four homers, three steals and 11 RBI in that span. The utility man is on another level lately, though he's been strong throughout the campaign with a .357/.492/.622 slash line, seven homers, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and four steals over 128 plate appearances. He's started three straight games in left field, but that avenue into the lineup will close when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns from the injured list.
