    • Justin Verlander struggles again in no-decision
      Justin Verlander struggled again in a no-decision against the Angels on Sunday, giving up four runs on seven hits over his five frames.

      Advice: The 41-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the afternoon and didn’t allow a base on balls. The Angels scratched out a pair of runs on sacrifice flies off the bat of Nolan Schanuel, added another as Mickey Moniak bunted into a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and then Willie Calhoun smacked a run-scoring single in the fifth. Still, Verlander exited with his team leading 7-4 and in line for a victory — but the Astros’ bullpen couldn’t hang on for him. He got just three swings and misses on 101 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 28 percent.     • Gives up two homers in loss
      Brown (1-3) took the loss to the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over four innings.

      Advice: Brown gave up multiple home runs in a game for the first time in his young career. Jeimer Candelario took him deep in the first inning and then TJ Friedl got him for the go-ahead homer in the third. The rookie right-hander has now given up eight runs in his last two starts after a stellar showing of seven no-hit innings against the Brewers on May 28.     • Struggles in no-decision
      Peralta did not factor into the decision Saturday against the Tigers, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out three over 3.1 innings.

      Advice: Peralta had issues with his command Saturday, with the five walks being tied for his second most this season. He threw 94 pitches to retire just 10 batters as he found himself in constant trouble with a lot of traffic on the bases.       Freddy Peralta struggled with his command in a no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and five walks in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The right-hander struck out three batters on the day. He had to really labor to get 10 outs in the ballgame, needing 94 pitches (56 strikes) to do so. Most of the damage came during a three-run uprising in the second inning as Carson Kelly and Mark Canha contributed run-scoring singles. Peralta got just five swings and misses in the contest, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 24 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he carries a 3.95 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 92/26 K/BB ratio (70 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Reds. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:24 pm

      Ben Brown allowed three runs in four innings and took the loss against the Reds on Saturday.



      Advice: Brown gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three. He allowed five runs in his last start, which was also against the Reds. Brown has completed five innings in only three of his eight starts for the Cubs this year. He’s still looking for his first win as a starting pitcher. Outside of his performance on May 28th against the Brewers when he went seven innings, allowed no runs and recorded 10 strikeouts, Brown’s been fairly pedestrian when starting. The 24-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cardinals at home next week.

    • Fans six in sixth win
      Irvin (6-2) picked up the win Friday in a 6-3 victory over the Rays, giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out six without walking a battter.

      Advice: Three straight singles in the sixth inning kept Irvin from recording his fifth quality start of the season, but the southpaw did tie his season high in strikeouts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 appearances (eight starts) dating back to April 15, posting a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 52.2 innings over that stretch.     • Brandon Pfaadt wears it on Friday vs. Padres
      Brandon Pfaadt was lit up for five runs over 5 1/3 innings on Friday in a loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Pfaadt, who allowed nine hits (including three home runs) and teammate Humberto Castellanos were each tagged for five runs as they soaked up nearly a complete game to spare Arizona’s overworked bullpen, which frankly needed a break after some heavy usage earlier this week. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring an inflated 4.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76/15 K/BB ratio across 78 1/3 innings (13 starts) into tasty matchup on Thursday against the Angels at Chase Field.       Pfaadt (2-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Friday.

      Advice: Even in pitcher-friendly Petco Park, Pfaadt was tagged for a season-high three home runs. He gave up back-to-back solo shots to Fernando Tatis and Jurickson Profar in the first inning and also yielded a two-run blast to Ha-Seong Kim in the sixth. This was the third start in a row in which Pfaadt has given up four or more runs. He's now at a 4.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:15 K:BB through 78.1 innings across 13 starts.       Cole Irvin allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 6-3 victory over the Rays on Friday.



      Advice: Irvin gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out six. The win was his sixth of the season. Irvin hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since his second start of the year back on April 10th. His ERA on the season is now 2.87, though his 4.19 xFIP tells a different story. The 30-year-old left-hander will see if he can keep it going against the Braves at home next week.
