Amador is slashing .138/.312/.149 with zero home runs, 12 steals and more walks (19) than strikeouts (17) in 25 games for Double-A Hartford.

Advice: Coming into the year, Amador was seen as one of the best pure hitters in the minors, so it's a bit jarring to see his batting average sitting at .138 through the first five weeks of the season. Perhaps more concerning though, is Amador's complete lack of power, as his .171 BABIP and overly patient approach largely explain his low batting average. Amador's 20.6 percent hard-hit rate and 63.2 percent groundball rate are very troubling marks. He is playing half his games in Hartford, which is essentially a neutral hitting environment, after getting to play half his High-A games at the very hitter-friendly park in Spokane, which helped him slug .514 in 54 High-A games last year. • Day off Tuesday
McNeil is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: McNeil is getting a day off to regroup amidst an 8-for-42 start at the plate this month. Joey Wendle will occupy second base as the Mets try to even the series versus the Phillies. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 am

    • Jeff McNeil out of lineup Tuesday vs. Phillies
Jeff McNeil is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: McNeil grabs a seat on the bench against Aaron Nola. The 32-year-old will sit with Joey Wendle handling second base and hitting seventh in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 7:03 am

    • Begins rehab assignment
Stefanic (quadricep) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Monday, starting at second base and playing three innings while going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Advice: On the mend from a left quad strain since late February, Stefanic has reached the final stage of his recovery program now that he's back playing in minor-league games. Since he's been out of commission for nearly two and a half months, Stefanic will presumably stick around in Arizona for a few more games before continuing his rehab at one of the Angels' higher-level affiliates. Once the Angels are confident that he's regained his timing at the plate and has put the quad injury in the rear-view mirror, Stefanic could return from the 60-day injured list around when he's first eligible in late May. He'll likely be ticketed for a utility role once he's reinstated, though Stefanic has a minor-league option remaining and could be sent to Triple-A Salt Lake if the Angels don't have room for him on the big-league roster. • Takes soft toss Monday
Edman (wrist) took soft toss Monday as he continues his hitting progression, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Edman has gone from tee work to soft toss and will progress to facing live pitching once he's ready for the next step. The switch-hitter is being slow-played following complications in his recovery from right wrist surgery and still appears to be pretty far off from beginning a rehab assignment. • Plays hero Monday
Newman went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Monday's 6-5 win over the Reds.

Advice: Newman ended the night with a walk-off, two-run single off Cincinnati closer Alexis Diaz, who had hit a batter and walked two before the shortstop played hero. It was the third consecutive game with multiple hits for Newman, who is 8-for-12 with four doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. He's added 74 points to his batting average -- from .179 to .253 -- due to this outburst and is more in line with his career mark of .259. He had become the team's primary shortstop, because his glove was more reliable than rookie Blaze Alexander. Newman should continue to serve that role until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is ready, which is expected to be at some point in June. Rotowire.com Today, 3:28 am

    • Homers off bench Monday
Hernandez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Hernandez opened May in an 0-for-11 slump, but he's hit safely in each of his last two games, including his seventh-inning blast as a pinch hitter Monday. The utility man is at a poor .220/.278/.305 slash line with two homers, seven RBI, six runs scored and one double through 90 plate appearances. Hernandez hasn't been strictly limited to a short-side platoon role, but that may change once Jason Heyward (back) is able to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm

    • Kevin Newman hits walk-off single against Reds
Kevin Newman went 4-for-5 with a walkoff two-run single in the ninth inning to give the Diamondbacks a 6-5 win Monday over the Reds.

Advice: Newman poked a single to right to score a pair of runners and turned a potential 5-4 loss into a 6-5 win. The 30-year-old former first-rounder has hit just .253 even with those four hits, and what was once an intriguing fantasy prospect is now someone who can be ignored on waivers. Monday was a good one, however. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm

    • Jorge Polanco leaves with hamstring tightness
Jorge Polanco was removed from Monday’s game against the Royals with tightness in his right hamstring.

Advice: Polanco exited the game and was replaced by Luis Urias, with Urias taking over at third and Josh Rojas moving to second. It’s a concerning development, especially for a hitter that has battled injuries over the last few years. There should be a further update on Polanco before Tuesday’s game against Kansas City.
