    • Christopher Morel returns to Cubs lineup on Sunday
Christopher Morel (hip, elbow) returned to the Cubs’ starting lineup on Sunday.

Advice: Morel was pulled from Saturday’s game after colliding with teammate Alexander Canario in the outfield, but aside from being a bit banged up he’s good to go. Morel is starting at the hot corner and batting cleanup against Tanner Houck and the Red Sox on Sunday night. On the season, the 24-year-old slugger is hitting .219/.296/.365 with three homers, 12 RBI and one stolen base through 26 games. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
    • Sits with illness
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Westburg was unavailable against the A's on Sunday due to a stomach bug, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The illness brought an end to a streak of 16 straight starts for Westburg, who has a .304/.360/.543 slash line through 25 games this season. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the Yankees. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Another impressive start
Skubal (4-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Royals. He struck out six.

Advice: Skubal began the day by allowing a leadoff double to Maikel Garcia followed by an RBI single by Bobby Witt, but the Royals were only able to muster two harmless singles and a walk the rest of the way. Skubal entered the contest with an ERA of 5.09 and only one win in eight decisions over 11 career appearances against Kansas City but quickly settled in to post his fourth start out of six this season in which he's allowed one or fewer runs with no more than five baserunners against. Skubal, whose strong outing dropped his season-long ERA to 1.72 with a 0.74 WHIP, will look to continue his early-season dominance into his next start, tentatively slated to take place in New York with a weekend matchup against the Yankees. • Paul Sewald scheduled to throw bullpen Wednesday
Paul Sewald (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks announced on Saturday that Sewald was having his rehab slowed a bit due to renewed soreness, but it sounds like it’s only a minor issue. He’s still probably going to need another appearance or two in rehab games before he’s cleared to return, but it’s not all doom and gloom for the Diamondbacks’ closer. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Skubal stymies Royals on Sunday
Tarik Skubal allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Royals.

Advice: Skubal struck out six and walked one while throwing 91 pitches in those seven innings. He allowed just one extra-base hit and posted an impressive 34 percent whiff rate and 35 percent CSW. Interestingly, Skubal threw just 13 combined sliders and curves today, opting instead to rely heavily on pounding the zone with his four-seam and sinker and getting a tremendous 55 percent whiff rate on his changeup. However, part of what has made Skubal so good is a deeper arsenal that now allows him to go away from certain pitches and still have dominant outings. He has a tougher matchup next week against the Yankees, but you start him everywhere. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
    • Good to go Sunday
Morel (hip) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: The 24-year-old collided with Alexander Canario after making a running catch in the outfield Saturday but is apparently no worse for wear. Morel had a 1-for-32 slump over nine contests in mid-May, but his bat has come alive over his past six games with a .781 OPS. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
    • Takes seat Sunday
Westburg is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Westburg started the past 16 games and posted a 1.057 OPS during that stretch, but he'll receive a breather Sunday while in the midst of a 4-for-20 slump. Jorge Mateo will step in at the keystone and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 7:34 am

    • Jordan Westburg takes seat Sunday vs. A’s
Jordan Westburg is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: Westburg has been outstanding to begin 2024 with a .903 OPS, but he’ll get a day of rest for the finale against the A’s. Ramon will hit eighth and handle the hot corner against Paul Blackburn and the Oakland bullpen to begin Sunday’s contest. Rotoworld Today, 7:26 am

    • Solid in no-decision
Singer didn't factor in the decision Saturday at Detroit after he allowed one run on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander gave up a run on a walk and a triple during the second inning but blanked the Tigers in his other four frames. Despite the strong run prevention, it was the third straight start with three walks for Singer, who generated just eight swings-and-misses Saturday. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong first month of the season with a 2.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB across 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
