    • Ryan Pepiot unravels in fourth inning
      Ryan Pepiot allowed two earned runs in 3 1/3 on Friday against the Pirates. He walked four and struck out three.

      Advice: Pepiot started strong with three punch outs in his first three innings and held a big lead. He looked to be in complete control until a lead-off walk to Rowdy Tellez in the bottom of the fourth and wouldn’t make it through the inning. His line could’ve been worse as he left the game with the bases loaded and one out, but Colin Poche got out of the jam with a double-play ball. It seemed he didn’t have a feel for his slider in this one as he threw just three.       Jung (wrist) was pulled from his rehab assignment Friday to be evaluated in Arlington before the Rangers decide whether or not to activate him this weekend, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Jung went 4-for-17 in four rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock and could be cleared to rejoin the Rangers' active roster this weekend. The third baseman hasn't played since fracturing his wrist on April 1 and was initially expected to receive roughly 30 at-bats in the minor leagues before being reinstated.       Bailey went 4-for-5 in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Bailey is 14-for-37 (.378) over his last 10 games, and the lone contest in that span in which he failed to log a hit was one where he appeared off the bench. While the catcher is making consistent contact, it hasn't been particularly powerful -- he has just two extra-base hits in that span.       Advice: Cronenworth became the latest ninth-inning hero for the Padres when he swatted a 401-foot solo blast to give the team its third straight walk-off win. The long ball was the 11th of the season through 74 games for the infielder, who has already surpassed his total of 10 homers over 127 contests last year.       Jake Cronenworth hit a walkoff homer off Joel Payamps as the Padres edged the Brewers 7-6 on Thursday.

      Advice: Payamps couldn’t possibly have made a worse 3-2 pitch, and Cronenworth deposited the breaking ball 355 feet down the right field line for his 11th homer of the year.       Rays RHP prospect Shane Baz struck out six over three scoreless innings on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.

      Advice: Baz averaged 96.5 mph on his four-seam fastball, which generated seven swinging strikes in this one, and needed just 70 pitches to navigate three frames. He gave up four hits and also issued three walks. The 25-year-old top pitching prospect has recorded 24 strikeouts over his last three starts since June 8. It’s time.       Advice: It appears to be a routine day off for Estrada, who was involved in a minor collision at first base yesterday but remained in the game. The 28-year-old has not been having a great season, hitting .240 with just one steal in 71 games.
