      Advice: Walks have been an especially pertinent issue for Anderson as of late, with Tuesday's start being his third time issuing five free passes in six appearances. Despite finding the strike zone on just 62 of his 109 pitches, Anderson was good enough at limiting damage to pull out his seventh victory of the season. Still, when the A's made contact, they hit Anderson hard. Three of the 34-year-old's five hits surrendered went for extra bases, with Brent Rooker clubbing a solo homer in the fifth frame.       Advice: It’s too bad this netted Abrams only one run and one RBI, even though the Nationals scored seven times. Unfortunately, the play from Abrams in this game that everyone will see was him being thrown out after lazily going back to first base following a single. He was also picked off first base in the game. He later appeared to have a stolen base, only to wind up getting sent back to first base because the umpire interfered with the catcher’s throw.       Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday, so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role.       Advice: Skubal came into Tuesday in a bit of a slump, as he had allowed nine runs (eight earned) across 10.1 total innings in his previous two starts, which were both losses. The lefty got back on track in a big way, however, with a dominant performance against a tough Philadelphia lineup. It was the sixth time this season that Skubal didn't allow any runs in an outing, which is a big reason why he's sitting with a 2.32 ERA, good for fourth in the majors. Detroit's ace is having an outstanding year, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next scheduled appearance, which is tentatively set for next Tuesday against the Twins. He generated an absurd 19 swinging strikes, including 11 on his changeup alone, and needed just 91 pitches (64 strikes) to navigate seven shutout frames. It was a much-needed rebound for the 27-year-old southpaw after allowing nine runs (eight earned) over his previous two starts against the Braves and Astros, respectively.
