    • Takes third straight loss
Detmers (3-3) took the loss against Cleveland on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Detmers entered the sixth inning with a quality start still in sight, as he had allowed three runs to that point. However, the left-hander got himself into trouble by walking three batters in the frame, and Bo Naylor made the hurler pay with a grand slam to blow the game open. The seven runs, three homers and four free passes were all season-worst marks for Detmers, who was tagged with his third consecutive loss. The 24-year-old looked to be on his way to a breakout campaign by posting a 1.19 ERA and 30:7 K:BB over 22.2 innings across his first four starts, but he's stumbled since, allowing 16 earned runs and recording a 14:7 K:BB over 17.2 frames in his past three outings. • Undergoes MRI on Saturday
Kirby underwent an MRI on his right knee Saturday after being removed early from his start against the Astros on Friday, but the results are still pending, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kirby's night ended Friday after a relatively modest 88 pitches due to the lingering right knee issue, which he conceded after the game he'd been dealing with "for the last couple of weeks." The general feeling after the game was he would be able to make his next start without issue, but manager Scott Servais said Kirby was sent for an MRI "just to make sure we're treating it the right way." Servais confirmed Kirby's arm felt good and added that he still expected the talented right-hander to make his next scheduled start, which is slated for Wednesday at Target Field against the Twins. • Reid Detmers serves up three homers in loss
Reid Detmers was shelled for seven runs over 5 2/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Detmers was burned by the long ball in this one as three of the five hits he surrendered wound up leaving the ball park. Serving up solo shots to Austin Hedges and Ramón Laureano, respectively was relatively harmless, but a sixth-inning grand slam from Bo Naylor was enough to saddled him with a loss. He struck out seven and also issued four walks. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.24 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 44/14 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Angels. Rotoworld Today, 7:53 pm
    • Belts eighth homer
Greene went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: The 23-year-old led off the game by taking Clarke Schmidt deep, giving Greene his third long ball in the last five contests and extending his hitting streak to seven games. The fifth overall pick in the 2019 Draft is beginning to live up to that pedigree, slashing .276/.401/.552 through 33 contests with eight homers, 16 RBI and 26 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 7:06 pm
    • George Kirby undergoes precautionary MRI on knee
Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters on Saturday that right-hander George Kirby underwent a precautionary MRI on his right knee.

Advice: Servais didn’t relay any results from that exam yet, but did note that he’s optimistic Kirby will be able to make his next start against the Twins on Wednesday in Minnesota. While it doesn’t sound like anything serious, the mere fact that he required an MRI has to be at least somewhat worrisome for fantasy managers. Be sure to monitor his status closely over the next couple of days. Rotoworld Today, 2:07 pm

    • Idle against lefty
Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

Advice: The left-handed Naylor will take a seat as fellow left-hander Reid Detmers starts on the hill for Los Angeles. David Fry will take over at first base and bat fourth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:28 pm

    • Riley Greene hits leadoff homer in loss to Yankees
Riley Greene went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Greene socked his eighth homer of the season Saturday, and it came to leadoff the game off Clarke Schmidt. The 23-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 with .276/.401/.552 slash over 116 at-bats, and Greene is more than talented enough to keep this going while hitting at the top of the Detroit lineup. • Notches two steals Friday
Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases Friday in a 4-3 extra-innings victory versus Atlanta.

Advice: Ohtani's first theft came in the third inning, and it led to Los Angeles' first run, as Will Smith followed with a two-out RBI single. It looked like Ohtani would be picked off in the eighth frame, but Matt Olson mishandled the throw to first base, allowing the Japanese superstar to make to second base safely. Ohtani later came up with a huge hit in the bottom of the 10th, stroking a one-out single to center field to plate the tying run after Atlanta had scored in the top of the frame. Ohtani continues to put up big numbers for the Dodgers and for his fantasy managers, as he's slashing .336/.405/.612 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 26 runs and seven steals (in seven attempts) through 153 plate appearances.
